Taking place 10 Nov 2012 (Single Day Event)
Permalink Cheater
On Saturday, November 10, 2012, I will host a Can-Am and Formula One race event at The Dungeon. This is Billy (airhead) and Minnie Watson's club track, 15 miles north of Montgomery off I-65.
Racing will be run under IRRA rules, which can be found HERE.
Trophy will be presented for an overall champion with highest two-race lap total. First, second, and third place plaques for both classes. Concours winner plaque for both classes
Track opens for practice at 8 AM. Tech inspection for Can-Am opens at 9 AM. Concours judging will occur after last car passes inspection.
At the end of the Can-Am race, we will break for an hour lunch, at which time the track will be turned off. Subway and pizza are available a short distance away. After lunch, track will be turned on for F1 practice and tech inspection. Concours judging will occur after last car passes inspection.
Entry Fee: $10 per race.
Technical inspector: Pablo; race director: Billy Watson; treasurer: Minnie Watson;, announcers/masters of ceremonies: Greg Gilbert and John Clow; concours judges: Pablo, Billy, and Minnie.
Technical inspection will be held strictly by the book. IRRA rules are very clear and precise. If your car does not conform you will get bounced from tech.
Standard impound rules will be in effect, that means there is no working on the cars after tech, during lane changes when you are sitting out, or any other pauses in the race. After sitting out, when you are up to race again, you may then work on your car. Pausing the race for a particular driver to fix major problems will be up to the discretion of the Race Director.
Lane assignments will be randomly selected by Race Director. There will be no qualifying. Format is Round Robin. Sit-outs will turn marshal as needed. Billy's usual "clothes pin/lane marker" method will be strictly enforced to ensure accurate and fair results.
Heats are 3 minutes on and 2 minutes off.
The track is 150' with seven turns, three of them banked. It is a four-lane routed wood with battery power. Power is about 12 volts. Track photos can be seen HERE.
Pit space is very limited at The Dungeon so please come as prepared as possible.

Billy always runs a good, fair race and there will be no change from the way he normally does it. Final decisions on racing situations that may arise will be made and enforced by the Host and the Race Director. This is a club atmosphere at Billy and Minnie's home and there will be no funny business or rudeness tolerated.
I personally guarantee you will have a great time at this event!
