Lest anyone think that all I do is paint the inside of Lexan . . . Here are two hardbody paint jobs that are finally completed.
The Galaxie was a restoration of a very-damaged old car. The driver’s side “A” pillar was totally missing and there were breaks and cracks everywhere that required fixing.
Both bumpers were scratched so I stripped off the old chrome and re-finished them with Alclad lacquer.

Posted Image

Window glass was covered with cracks, dirt, scratches, and model glue so I used the originals to vacuum-form these out of butyrate. Unfortunately I still have to attach the taillights . . . make new ones actually because the originals are damaged beyond repair.

Posted Image

Anyway, this car is 98% done and will be out of here by the end of the week!

The second car of the set is a build up of a mint Johan kit. This car is a pretty rare piece in the model car world and it cost a pretty penny to purchase off ePay. Seemed a shame to leave out the engine and chassis . . . but it’s for slotcars. Right?

The full interior was used, with only a portion of the back seat area removed for motor clearance.

Beautiful work (as always!). Hmmm . . . Trans-Am kinda rhymes with Can-Am. A nice Mustang, Javelin, Challenger, Camaro on one of the current chassis. Hmm . . .

Noose . . .

I still have a Waters Mustang that you painted 30 years ago, way back when you were just a kid . . . It is a bit crushed from being in the bottom of the chassis box but I will try to remember to bring it to the next race I manage to get to . . .

Ahh but I'm still a kid at heart. Why else would I still have this desire to play with toy cars!

Finished a couple more this morning. Diametrically opposite designs as they are . . . and going to two different builders in two different countries. Er, . . . Whatever . . .
The first one is a peace and love machine called “Flower Power”. Features background colors fading from purple to yellow with stylized flowers in the foreground.

The second piece is a Large Dart painted as a '50s jet fighter. I added a driver figure and vacuum-formed a cockpit canopy cast over a 1/48th P40 drop tank half.

Jairus,

This is a stick-up!

Listen carefully . . . put those two bodies in a plain brown bag and drop them off behind the lightpost at the corner of Main and Central Ave. Do not call the Police!

Once the pick-up has been made, we will release your paint brushes in good condition back to you and also leave you a bag of money.

Finished two more this morning!
The first one is a dart-like design the owner called a Gullwing which is now named “FATBOY”.

Posted Image

The second one is another Hammerhead also done up in a military theme as a fantasy German fighter jet complete with cameo paint. I call this one: “Blohm & Voss Hammerhead”.

Posted Image

Lastly, the customer of the above Javelin Trans-Am hardbody requested something cool for the wheels . . . So the stock kit wheels, MiniLites, were ground down and inserted into a set of BWA rims and tires! Looks pretty good to me . . .

Two more for this Friday morning! Both are going overseas and both are very retro designs. The first is a Large Dart patterned after Gene Adams' famous piece, in metalflake dark green and white:

The second is a Mongoose in a very simple three-color paint scheme:

“Good morning, Slotblog”.
Get your first cup of coffee and take a moment to check out da latest from the studio. Two replicas just finished this morning are painstaking copies of famous bodies who need no introduction. The first is one originally painted in 1973 by Philippe de Lespinay!

This McLaren is a Waters Champion re-pop . . . exactly what Bob Emott says he used for his Tottenham car. As per the inset photo and by following Bob directions, this replica was painted.
