TonyP, aka "Chassis God" will be there and there is no one better to discuss chassis design with.
He is kind of like the E.F. Hutton of retro chassis design. When he talks, listen!
Anything we can do to assist you, just let us know how we can help.

TonyP was there and fast as usual. Dan 'Doc' Dougherty was there as well sorting out his first build. Hey, it was running pretty good for a first time build. I think he walked away with a lot of ideas, and I think there will be some changes coming.
All I can say is that this track is a true driver's track. Each lap is just so intense as you roll into the infield. You hope to 'break even' on the race from the exit of the infield to the entrance to the infield. Braking late can get you a couple of inches on your competition, or it can send you to the wall if you push it too much. I still think the dogleg that leads to the vertical curve is the most tricky section of the track. If you get the car setup up right, you can come out of the finger WFO and then do a quick blip to set the front of the car down and keep the car from deslotting. But if you don't, it's a roll to the wall at the bottom of the hill which is the entrance to the 'esses'.
I ran a new design using .078 wire. After some testing and noticing a bit of a 'twitch' coming out of the infield, I think a 'wire and a half' using .062 is what will be built with the rest of the design the same.
This is going to be a fantastic race on a super track. Hopefully y'all will come out and enjoy a great racing surface.

Thats was a very interesting test session with you guys. I learned alot about my first build and you guys gave me alot of ideas what to try next. Now I just got to get some chassis building components.
The one thing that hit me the hardest on this track, was the HUGE difference in perspective from moving from the blue/yellow/purple/black group of lanes to the red/white/green/orange set of lanes. The two groups are separted by about twenty or more feet and that makes a huge difference. After TonyP and I ran for quite awhile on the blue group, we had Greg (track owner) set up the other lanes to be able to run the road course on the upper lanes (red group). This might take a bit of explaining, but this track is two tracks in one. By swapping out short sections on each lane, you can have either a tri-oval or a road course,,, very interesting. Most of the time, Greg has the lower lanes, blue group, setup for running the infield, while the upper lanes, red group, is setup to run only the tri-oval.
The July 25th Retro race is going to be very interesting!!!

A few years back we ran Amateur NASCAR at a State Race with a mixed track. You had to set your car up for both and it made it very interesting.
I'm not very good on the road course, but I still love racing on it.

Wiz,
I remember one night when we ran "high and low" during a Tuesday Night race night. That is we had the orange, green, white and red set up on the tri-oval and blue yellow, purple and black set up on the road course. Talk about a great training situation for teaching people to race the track and NOT THE OTHER CAR!
One of the racers that started out on the upper lanes and after 4 heats, swithed to the lower lanes got a real surprise as he was racing another car and not the track. He must have thought he was still on the tri-oval as the guy in the next lane was getting ahead of him going into the tri-oval piece right before the entry into infield. I've never seen nor heard a car hit the wall quite as hard as that night! The racer did the throttle blip, but was WFO as he entered the infield on blue!
Since you're not that good on the road course, I do have a spare car you can borrow for the 25th!

Many of us are also hopeful that you will be doing the same thing.
However, if things don't go the way you expect them, or are waiting on 'municipal madness' to dissipate then you know you're more then welcome to drop by and enjoy some great racing!
When do you expect to have the track known far and wide through Florida as "The Bioth By the Bay" up and running? I mean a flat track here in Florida is so unique! I'm looking forward to coming up and racing on it.

Marty,
We finally received our Notice of Commencement from the landlord (after almost six weeks of waiting) and the inspections are taking place. Hopefully .... the plumbing repairs will pass on Monday and the new firewall should be finished by Wednesday. If so, we'll be painting this weekend and bringing the tracks in over the next two weekends.
BTW .... we've learned that The Biotch By the Bay has a given name. Greg Walker designed the track and named it The 69 since it was the 69th track that Ogilive built. He says that an overhead view will reveal that it loosely looks like a "69".
And I hate to burst the "flat track" bubble, but Greg told me that the track does have one banked corner. But it will still be one of the most unique tracks you'll ever race on.

Tony,
We're on the south side of Jacksonville. It takes me just under two hours to get to ASR, so you can judge from there.
Our address is: 9735-15 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257
Hope to see y'all in August!

Actually if Tony drives, it will only be about an hour and 15 minutes from Lake Mary to J'Ville, actually Mandarin. Thankfully he drives one of those 'stealthy' vehicles and we make good time when traveling. Besides, his GPS does not tell us to "Exit Now" when we're high up on a tall bridge and there are no exits around!
So, are you looking to see an "Attack of the Gator People" up in the new raceway?

It's been a long, ling time since I last drove an almost flat track! I'm looking forward to coming up there to race.

When you open, please consider some sort of a special race to attract us racers. A Retro race would be cool, but it also could be something that we race in the "My Series" State Championship races, like maybe an enduro for GT1 or GTP cars.
Doc
EDIT: Marty, where do you find you pics? Was that taken in a kiddy store? hahahahahaha

I'm afraid not. One of my grandaughters is having a birthday party and of course I'm invited to the party. Can't say no to a grandkid!
However, I'm heading over to The Race Place bright and early on Saturday, July 24th to check out some new chassis designs that I came up with after our last test session.
BTW, Greg Walker has made arrangements to have some 'ready to run' Can-Am and GT-Coupe cars that will be available to purchase at The Race Place. They will be built using a JK Chassis kit as the basis of the chassis. It will be a copy of my 4.71 car from ASR, but with a 'rail and a half' design of .0625 wire. I think they will rock on that track as we discussed.
I also got some ball bearings in for you to test. I think they are going to be fantastic and the price is that of bushings! I'll give you some the next time we test.
Please bring along a couple of those 'parking lot' TSR motors that you have. I've got to try and keep up with you.

We have TonyP that will be there.
George Kimber is coming there as well.
Terry Tawney is going to be there.
Danny Zona is rumored to possibly join us.
Every knows if DZ races, then Biscuit will be there as well.
Those 5 folks put a lot of talent standing at the driver's station at a single time!
Joey Enyart, Dan 'Doc' Dougherty, Bill Pinch, Grant Goerner, Rick Moore, Mac Brown, Greg Wells, Phillip Masse and perhaps Cory Borden will put in appearances as well. This could make for an exciting time and lots of competition on a very challenging racing surface! I won't miss that for the world.
You're gonna have to be on your game that day - July 25th at The Race Place!
I hope to see y'all there.
