As some of you may know, a program I am affiliated with has got slot car racing into a school in Brooklyn, NY.  We have been going strong for just over a year now.  Mostly teaching how to drive a basic slot car and some minor mechanics.

This upcoming year we plan on having a proper curriculum for the students. I however am looking for any type of tutorials that have been already made up that I can post around the classroom. We are looking for anything, from putting bodies on a car, to building complete cars. I have taken some stuff off Slotblog here and printed them out and it's going great.

Just looking around to see if there's anything else around the web/Slotblog that I can post around the classroom

Many thanks,

Chubby

Sounds like a great thing you are doing.

Mick A. out of Slot Car City in Los Vegas has made some good "How-to" DVDs.

Also, I found this 12 part series on YouTube. No sound and deals with 1/32 but may be useful.  Part 1 is here:

I have made some tutorials covering different aspects in building chassis and preparing and painting bodies - feel free to use them as you wish.

In the parts counter I have tutorials for the FANG and Stalker kits.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Joe,

I would strongly recommend that you turn the students on to Moto-Tools AKA Dremels and their operation. Not only will this teaching be helpful in slot racing but it will be a tool that they can and will use the rest of there life in many everydays repairs.

I just used my Dremel the other day to cut a radiator hose clamp off of my van.

Joe, I'm going to be starting a STEM type of summer program for kids at the Teaneck track.  My idea is to have them build a car, drive the car tune the car and race the car.  over a span of maybe 6 sessions..  Id love to pick you brain about what worked/what didn't work etc. .

I'm a HS teacher and am good with kids, I can create a "curriculum", and I know enough about slots to have my own ideas, but I'd love to hear from you (or anyone!) about making this the best for the kids.

here is fine, or PM, or my email, whatever..

thanks!

Hi Joe, please check out post 175 on this page. http://slotblog.net/...-fixture/page-7

If you think it fits your goals for the class let me know. I have one fixture left I could send your way.

I wish someone would have promoted this when I was in school.
