RMRRA Retro F1 03/19/2022
19 entries!
After such a great Stockcar race and a pulled pork lunch prepared by Leslie, F1 was going to have to be phenomenal to top the day thus far. I will be honest in that I did not get a good overall view of this race so details of the race will be minimal (maybe some prefer that?).
TQ was set by hometown hero Alan Wilkinson
Concourse by our very own and talented Mark Even
B main podium would be set with Mark Even taking the win, Leslie Hernon 2nd and paulie Frazier 3rd.
A main Would go down to a 2 way battle for the podium. Paul Murr was overall the person to beat within the race and it was awesome to see. Bouncing back from a few chaotic weekends he was able to take the win and reset the universe. I believe he had a few laps on Alan going into the final heat, and due to my marshalling position, I am unsure what led to the very close finish. AJ and Johnny B would battle for the final spot with AJ taking it by just a couple sections. Great driving by all and I apologize that I cannot spotlight more drivers this time.
Overall finishing position and lap totals
1) Paul Murr - 254.06
2) Alan Wilkinson - 253.02
3) AJ Hoyt - 246.16
4) John Barvik - 246.08
5) Mike Yackey - 234.18
6) Mark Even - 234.01
7) Roger Wallinbg (Rowdy) - 233.05
8) Leslie Hernon - 226.02
9) Paulie Frazier - 222.22
10) Sherrel Price - 203.19
11) Jayden Yackey - 198.12
12) TJ Smith - 198.05
13) Adam - 192.19
14) Clark Davis - 177.11
15) Rodney Leffler - 153
16) Justin Kill - 96
17) Matt Sheldon - 78
18) Loye Washington - 21
19) Dewey - 2
A main L-R Alan Wilkinson 2nd, Paul Murr 1st, AJ Hoyt 3rd, John Barvik 4th (why is Johnny the only one that looks happy?)

CanAm results 03/19/2021
20 entries!
With the largest entry count that I can remember and being 5:00, we decided to do a 1 and done format with a 12 racer round robin B main and 8 racer A main.
Concourse was won by Mark Even
TQ was none other than Howie Uranser with a 4.970. It should be noted that Howie did not practice for CanAm as his tires were sitting right at .812' and he didn't want to chance rule enforcement not working in his favor.
B main got off hot and heavy and racing was really really good with just about everyone. Paulie Frazier was the the pace leader and would eventually find his way to the top spot on the podium. A couple sections away saw the return of TJ Smith whom seems very rejuvenated with retro and has been assembling fleets of cars. TJ would have a great drive and finish second. Just a lap back our double concourse winner Mark even would find himself third. All 3 of these drivers including 4th place finisher Leslie Hernon would take top 8 overall positions. This total field of 20 entries was just that competitive.
The A main headed out with a bang! Matt Sheldon would retire at just 47 laps due to damage too excessive to return. The next victim would be Justin Kill @ 149 laps. Justin had a terrible day overall and I am sure he was out of fun by this point. For sure a threat at the next one. With 6 racers remaining Howie was out front doing the Howie dance and running away from the field. Experience, skills and a champions mindset had him poised for total dominance and dominate he did. Second place would be hometown hero Alan Wilkinson and third would go to Paul Murr whom had a great day finish wise. Great podium! 4th place would go to John Barvik aka Johnny B. While every person that we race with has been really awesome this season, There is always extra positive energy when Johnny B is in the house. Always smiling and a slotcar racer/enthusiast to the core. Great finish day for Johnny on the day as well. 5th place would go to Roger Walling aka Rowdy whom once again drove 850 miles to join us. It was nice to see Rowdy getting some good races in and having fun. The last race survivor was Loye Washington. Loye had his fair share of issues, but soldiered through the day.
Overall results -
1 - Howie Uranser - 270.14
2 - Alan Wilkinson - 256.16

On behalf of Leslie and myself, I want to thank all the racers & volunteers that support us and made this race the best it could be. We are still learning and adjusting as we go along to get to that sweet spot.
Thank you's - This is tough because it goes out to everyone. That being said none of this and I mean none of this would be possible without Leslie! She somehow keeps our homestead in order, my hot mess in check and pretty much all the day to days in check at the raceway. She organizes or cooks our lunches at the track for everyone and really goes out of her way to think what we need so that everyone is comfortable. Sure I play my part, but no matter what, without Leslie, there is no raceway as we know it. My career obligations are too great for me to ever do this on my own. She loves all of this as much as any of us and really loves all of you. Paul and Alan for bringing the RMRRA race to the raceway. Collectively it was a great race with amazing turnout. Alan for really treating the raceway like it is his own. Whether directly or behind the scenes, there is nothing that Alan doesn't do to help Leslie and I be the best we can be with this. Paul for getting our electronics and timing system setup, Brian Jojola for always stepping up to be a volunteer. Marc S. for spending all day with us marshaling and helping out. Rob for helping clean up the following day . John A. and Steve Y. for helping clean and prep the track. Rowdy for your financial generosity towards lunch. We appreciate and enjoy your time with us. Finally Eddie, Mike and Jayden for putting the rest of the chairs together. If I missed any one, I apologize. Please take your complaints up with management.
Typing this just reaffirms everything that I say daily. We are very fortunate, humble and at time surprised by everyone's support. We are only getting started, here is to a great April.
See you soon.
