Recently picked up these two kits on ebay, where Gary Gerding was selling a few of them.

The name rings a bell, but can't find any more info for now. They're repackaged Atlas 1/24 F1 kits, with a few other parts, like a Cox crown gear and blue sponge tires on the rear. I had thought Auto World, but as early as 1969, AW was already selling these overstocked kits for $2.99! And the Champcar "Foxbat" is priced at $12! The label also lists a Falcon and a 1/32 kit at $8.

So I assume these were sold later, but not sure when. Anybody know anything about these?

I did finally track down this ad from the April 1973 issue of Car Model - so maybe there is more of an AW connection, especially those "grab bags"!

Interesting.

The ad is very “Autoworld-ish” Must be a connection somewhere.

The line “ The ball bearing motor in this kit sold for $7.95 alone! “ is the type of wording they used.

Also, that is the AW “Grab bag” guy. He looks more like he just made a huge jewel heist  :D

And a giant grab bag for a buck? I’ll take a couple hundred.

Thanks for sharing.

I wonder if Twinn-K had anything to do with these? They were also out of Indianapolis.

The zip code is right next to Plainfield,  Indiana where Twinn-K was located.

The “kits” did have AJ’s tires.

The car in the logo has the number “54” which was Oscar’s “go to” number.

Oscar Koveleski (Autoworld) and Maurice Winn (Twinn-K/AJ’s) were good friends .

All that being said I have the say Champcar of Indy is new to me.
