Fellas,

The next meeting of the C.A.R.S. Vintage Slot Car Club will be held on April 7, 2022, at The Race Place, Rt. 33, Farmingdale, NJ, at 7:30 PM. We'll be featuring German cars as our main theme. Porsches, Mercedes, etc...

We will also be honoring Buzz-A-Rama with our year long Buzz-A-Rama Basement Beauties theme... the photo below courtesy of Joseph Migliaccio, holds a special place in my memories of the original Race Place.

In the mid 1970s TRP held a 'kit race" utilizing these Competition Co. kits along with a green Allard body. Everyone was given a kit and the "race" started when Big John gave us the go signal.

We had to assemble the kit and when done you went to your assigned lane and started clicking off laps. As I recall my late friend Ed Kenny completed his car first and was off and running.

Yours truly built two kits, one for me and one for the Mrs. By now Ed was out front by a good distance but it seems that Eddie's car was not meant to finish. With the timed event nearing its later stages Eddie's car let out a screeching sound, a puff or two of smoke and it was all over for Eddie's race.

You guessed it, yours truly won the race and the Mrs. finished in second... one of the chassis still remain in my possession. Maybe some time soon we'll have Race Place celebration event and I'll bring the car along !

We wound up cancelling last night's meeting due to weather predictions...we'll try to follow through with April's theme here on Slotblog until next time.

Fellas,

We plan on trying the BBB and Germany themes on Thursday night, April 14th.  If you can make it, please do so.

Would love to see you, but understand if you can't make it.  I'm off Friday!!! :)

Pete, I don't like stealing reigns so if you need to smack me around a bit, please do.  Was kind of disappointed with myself last Thursday as it really didn't rain in Farmingdale NJ!

Fellas,

Due to dire weather forecasts the April 7 meeting was postponed until yesterday April 14. We had as a theme, German cars and they turned out in force, several scales, both factory built as well as homegrown.

Also with our year long BBB (BUZZY'S BASEMENT BEAUTIES) theme there were quite a few interesting displays as well as a special surprise collection of cars...

My not so old Flexi's and Womp wear theme correct German car bodies saw track time after many years of idleness. Sincell of them were clad with newer rubber they performed surprisingly well. It's quite satisfying running these older cars around again...

Rodney's racers 1/32 scale factory cars and a few 1/24 production and scratch built contenders, all of which are German bodies cars as well.

The bottom photo shows some of Mikey's German car collection in HO scale. Mercedes F-1 car as well as several other racecars and street driven cars.

Photos #2

Additional pics of last night's get together.

A different view of Rodneys cars, I especially like the VW bus and the #19 Mercedes to the left. How many know that headrest/fairing is also an "AIRBRAKE" ?

More of Mikey's German car display, HO cars seemed to be a hot topic this month...

Fellas,

As mentioned above this month's surprise: Another example of..."BUZZIE'S BASEMENT BEAUTIES" !

This collection of hand painted HO cars was found recently in a small case that had been "lost" for years. The photos are self explanatory of the previous owners favorite Baseball teams and players of the era !!!

Thank you for the photo update Pete!  You the MAN!

Unless you let me know when to meet you sooner, I will see you May 5th!  Cinco de Mayo does NOT fall on Taco Tuesday this year!  Don't believe the FaceBook memes all the time!

That is a great little collection of painted ho bodies there. Hey Mikey that green flowered bug has my number on it.
Joseph Migliaccio. Karma it's a wonderful thing.
