We're looking forward to racing at the new Daytona location with it's six-lane Mod-King when it becomes operational later this year.

Greg Walkers track is coming along. I can't wait for the GRRR race in August. The wing car series will be fun as well.

I just stopped by the new location and the track looks awesome, a true "Drivers" King as most of the turns. except the main bank, are almost flat.  This is really going to be fun for retro cars and even though it's pretty flat, the large radius turns should promote great racing and also make it good for the the wing car guys too. Can't wait to get a few laps on this track!!

So can anyone explain why Greg doesn't like a 8 lane track?

He told me he made it 6 lanes so it's easier to turn marshal.

It makes sense. Especially when most slot car racers are older and tend to have trouble turn marshaling.

Two less cars in a main makes for less carnage in a race.

The track is Bad A$$.

The GRRR series racers will love racing on the track. Wing cars are gong to be fun as well.

Greg Walkers track was cleaned and glued today prepping for the upcoming race.

A bunch of racers helped run in the track and it already has rubber built up on it.

The track is hooked.

Racing gets cleaner even when just one person drops out.

 

And it's why we only recognized Track Records when there was a full field on the track at SCR&H-Jacksonville.

The new Florida King track is finally here!  See you guys Aug21.

I ran on Greg's new King track this past Saturday and it is sweet!  The large radius turns make it easy to drive even though they are almost flat.   It can be very fast but IMO it drives quite different than a "Punch Bowl" track with a lot of banking.  To go really fast you have to develop a very smooth rhythm.

 

BTW... I'm really looking forward to the GRRR race on Sunday, Aug. 21st and I suspect we will have quite a crowd.  We will be racing IRRA GT Coupes, Can-Ams, and Stockcars, all on the new King track.  Doors will open at 9:00am, the location is 2400 S Ridgewood Ave, South Daytona, FL - Florida 32119

Will there be any races in November and December?

Right now we have no firm plans for one.  Scheduling is always difficult in Nov and Dec due to big races like the Fall Brawl and of course holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.  However we may hold a fun, non-points race/get together if a we get enough interest.
