NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!

Six Racers converged on my garage and we set up the tent and track and got to it!

After some practice and tuning and donuts it was time to start the program.

First race was Rick's new version of 1/32 GT/GTE using old and new GT cars with Raptor or the equivalent 22K NSR orange motor and silicoated foam tires.

Most of the guys ran their NSR GTs while Rick started with his gold Lambo and led the way until a wire broke off at the guide. We allow switching cars for mechanical issues and he came out again with his new NSR McLaren and continued to lead. I ran my one year old Sideways Ford GTE with a Raptor motor and may have done better but it was light in the front and was lifting out of the slot coming off the top of the Vortex. Stan did well with his older NSR for third.

Do you have a picture of the track?

Race 2 was with the excellent NASTE brass chassis produce by Zack Morgan and Caveman Bodeez' 4"LMP for big wheel chassis.

Four of us ordered the chassis kits from Zack around a year ago or so and decided to run Cheetah motors and silicoated Pro-Track Daytona Stockers.

We each went somewhat different on the gearing but these 210g porkers produced some of the most fun and close racing of the day.

Check out the last heat...

Race #3 was BRM 917/512s IROC

We keep them mostly stock with the black motor but silicone coat the foams.

Rick ran off for win #3 He was on Fire!

Steel Brian Gibbens sponsored that race and Rick won a Fly Porsche 917 and a Cabellas gift card while standing in front of a Bass Pro sign..

From the look on his face I'd say Brian has a "Steel" grip!

Race # 4

Lee's H&R Stockcars

Sadly Stan had to leave. Too bad because these are a lot like the cars he had his students building when he was teaching Jr. High.

Lee found some model bodies for a good price and used them for a set of cars for another IROC class.

The H&R chassis are powered by the Purple BRM motors and run on

the H&R slip on silicone tires. We have never run a class on these tires and we were impressed even though the wind had kicked up and the track got a bit dusty they stuck pretty well and the cars were really fun to drive. Thanks Lee!!!

Steve broke Rick's winning streak!

Lee sponsored this race and Steve won a nice Tamiya Lola T-70 body and a Scholer chassis!

Race 5. our Sidewinder class. Slot-it stock or Piranha 21k motors on Super Tires silicone tires.

This is a good time to show Pappy the track because that wind kicking up and getting a little dust on the track picked up some more, just when we wanted to run hard silicones... The track stick out of the garage a bit you see.

All 5 sections.png

Steel had to head home at this point but it was great seeing him and racing with him again!!!

It wasn't a "dust storm or as some people call them a "Haboob", it was just a little dusty, just enough that the tires were trashed in about 3 laps and we were slipping and sliding everywhere. But we marched on and Steve kept it on the track the best to take Win #2

Check out this dudes *** kicking car. A Powerslot Lola T-298 body on a NR Racers 3D chassis, a 1.0 Slot-it motor pod with a 21K Piranha, two tungsten ballasts, a Slot-it deep Wood Track guide. It's AWSEOME!

Pappy,

In this section there is a posting name Arizona Garage Racing (I think) from 2008. There are a ton of track pics near the end of the post.

Race #6

Mr. Steve, winner of the previous two races grabbed the dust mop and went after the track as the wind died down a little and so we lined up our version of Retro Can Am.

Old, out of date chassis (Retro Retros?) with a Scaleauto "bronze" long can motors. 22k but 318 gr x cm . We pull them out of 1/24 Scaleauto GTs and use the chrome and yellow motors.

They're pretty good on this track (78 1/2 ft. average)

After a practice run last week I decided Batman was right...

Bat Cave Gearing copy.jpg

So I changed my spur to a 26. Just enough to not burn up!

I even got some fast laps!

D3.png

Yay! I didn't get skunked on my own track!

I'm not sure what happened to Lee's car but he pulled it after one heat.

I smell dinner cooking... Time to wind this up with a shout out to a couple of friends that wanted to come but couldn't make it. Mike Pyska, you were missed! You too KC Kennedy and your new Shopping Cart IROC cars.

LOL!!!!

And Jim Armstrong... What up?

But before I go I just would like to know what toxic concoction Stan is pumping into his hybrid battery / capacitor array on his controller.

Looks to me like Stan is putting Slick 7 VooDoo on the contacts of his controller.  It removes oxidation and really smooths out the wiper action.
