Our local area clubs' run a class for 60's F1 cars, and bodies are somewhat hard to come by,.....at least if you want something a little different,...soooo,.......as I have had these hideous looking Lindberg cars hanging around for eons, I finally decided to try and make them look and perform a touch better.......

First the BRM P57 'Stackpipe"

As you can see not the greatest,.....the driver sat miles high, and with a huge melon, tons of ground clearance, etc. etc. and, it ran like, well, not very good !!

A simple flexi-board chassis was built,......very "flexi" as the class rules mandate a very low powered motor and period correct "skinny" (7mm ) tires.

The body needed a few bits made, and a fair bit of hacking to make it look presentable,.......to my eye, I am not sure if it was worth it,,....it is far too "porky"

It was done to represent (very loosely) Richie Ginthers' car.

The Lindberg Porsche was/is equally as hideous, but being a huge Dan Gurney fan, I had to give it a whirl.

The chassis is essentially the same as the BRM, and both run extremely well, and are more than competitive in our Clubs' 60's F1 class.

This is done to represent Dan Gurneys' 804.

Still on the "porky" side, but to my eye the proportions on the Lindberg Porsche are a bit more accurate than the BRM.

Those are great Chris, excellent initiative!

If you're looking for other bodies, should be lots of the Airfix ones around, and they made a pretty nice 804... hmm, thought I had a photo of mine, but can't find it, so I've attached a photo of the Prefo Melkus FIII...

Hi Don, I have done most of the MRRC/Aifix shells, as well as the Monograms' and a few resin shells, and, I am always looking for others, as we have likely 30+ racers in our local clubs', and finding something different is a challenge.

I am sure you have seen these previously but, just in case.

Cheers

Always a pleasure to see them again...

Maybe it's time to do a Melkus... they're usually pretty cheap out of Eastern Europe.

After searching "Images", I am on the hunt for a Prefo Melkus F3,.......thank you Don !!

PS While a F3 car may not be readily accepted in our F1 class, I will nonetheless find and build one.

Those are all gorgeous cars but the Jimmy Clark Lotus is just stunning!

Very nice job on the conversion Chris.

I really like the chassis - looks simple and I'm sure effective.

Thanks for sharing.
