One of my first scratch-built slot cars was a 26D-powered Lancer Hornet. That car is long gone, but I wanted to recreate it. Here is a new Hornet build.
The original car had a factory-painted Lancer Hornet body. I purchased this custom-painted original Lancer body and built a car around it.
The 26D motor has a rewound armature with silver wire and a Kirkwood-looking commutator. Arco magnets and shim are also used. A simple brass rod chassis was constructed. Wheels and tires are Riggen. The car is easy to drive, and the motor is high-revving.
