Here's one I can't quite ID. I recently bought 3 Steel pan chassis from the Buzz A Rama basement stash. 2 are clearly Parma Flexi 1 chassis and I thought from the pictures on Ebay this one was a Ferret. It looks exactly like the pics of other Ferret chassis I found except those had the 2 sections connected by 2 rivets. This only has 1 screw and there are no holes where the rear rivet would have gone ? Other than that the shape of the pieces matches a Ferret chassis exactly. So what do I have ?  Other than the obvious bent front wheel..

Could that be a Parma center section that's been mated to some other wing section?

I highly doubt those were raced by pros. It's a nice flexi though. It would probably make a fun and fast car if built up.

Bill from NH surely is the man to ask  :)

Racer's Products  ?

I always thought Racer Products chassis had the two rivets. Locally I saw them, but nobody ran them because 1/16" chassis clearance meant raising the whole chassis for clearing the hanging rivets. Since 1996, I never saw a flexi chassis called a Ferret, but I never saw one of the single screw chassis either. My guess is that Ferret made both this one & the 2 rivet chassis. They certainly owned the equipment to metal form a flexi chassis. Who actually sold which one, I don't know. PDL's book might say, if you own a copy.

There was a recent seller on eBay selling flexi kits with NOS chassis to build a complete car, and I'm pretty sure they were identified as Ferret.

It's a later Ferret. Or a earlier one. Confused? I bought one in Rochester @ Fantasy raceway in 86. A few weeks later Miniature Grand Prix of Westvale got one for another racer. Mine had rivets, it kicked A** on the oval. His was like the one you posted. It was a dog. I brought this up in " flexi time line" but no one had seen one, with screws. I guess you could say he got.......

Looks like a box of doughnuts! Mark, take it out of the box, photograph bottom & top sides so we can see what you have, & post the photos on here.

Did you try petting one because you knew it wasn't a skunk?  :laugh2:

Mark, nobody else on here has come up with a chassis or a photo of one that looks like yours. That leads me to believe your 1-screw chassis from Buzzarama is an early version of the Ferret flexi.

Those who called it a Racer Products chassis, including myself, Ferret must have also sold some of these chassis to Racer Products who resold then with their own labels on them. Call them Ferret or Racer Product, they were never a very popular flexi chassis in New England because of their hanging rivets,

Ferret is just a nice name for a weasel. I had one as a pet for six years. If you buy from an accredited breeder, they are already de-scented, although a sharp nose can still detect the scent. It is also illegal to sell one that hasn't been neutered. They like to make little ones, and the feds don't want them overpopulating the country.

Ferrets originally came from Scotland, which is what attracted me to them. They were used to dig out the field mice that ravaged the farmer's fields.

I had a Ferret flexi way back during my third foray into slot racing. It was no where near as fast as the Parma. I don't remember what I did with it, but I don't have it now.

Can't for the life of me remember if it was a Ferret or RJR that I bought in Rochester,NY. For some unknown reason, I don't have the box. Very uncharacteristic of me.

Mark, what car are you referring to in post #20? The one in the donut box? That one is no RJR. Do you have an RJR Storm, but forgot to past its photo?

No, I do have a RJR storm but, I was referring to the chassis in question.
Also, for those who want it , here is the website. ferret@speedstar-ferret.com

What does RJR have to do with this Ferret chassis? Just that you had a RJR something that came from Rochester?

FYI  The Speedstar-Ferret website was an old one last updated & used 20 odd years ago. Someone finally deleted it this spring. It contained some early Ferret history, also now gone,
