I've bought this Champion 906 with 26D motor. All looks original (body, chassis, motor, guide) but which wheels were mounted on this model?

Front wheels looks Champion... and rear?

Some people told me about rear wheels trimmed by hand from the factory... possible ???

Thanks for answers!!!

I ran these Champion chassis back in 1967 & 68, It's a 36D chassis, I don't know if Champion ever sold it with a 26D motor. Your front tires are not what came stock. Factory tires were flat, bonded to the hubs & had no tread. Your retaining nuts on the fronts look too large, so your hubs & front axle may not be factory either. I believe the Champion front hubs were aluminum with a brass bushing. Rear tires would have been 1.25" dia. with collets & nuts to hold them on a plain axle. The spur gear was 48 pitch, also with a collet & nut. I do not have a car to show you these Champion items, but someone else may have one.

Yeah, that should have a 36D. These with a variety of rears. Most common are the silicones and blue foam. All came with the taper-lock wheels though. 6BD89179-AE7B-4DF3-AA89-06AE9FBA9447.jpeg

My two 36D cars came with black foam. I changed them to Champion's silicones for running on "silicone only" tracks. I think the colored foams came later, but I had moved out of state the summer of '69. '69 to '81 I was using orange foam.

I know that the only Champion RTR with the 26d ( or 601) was the Carrera 906..

Okay, I don't recall seeing one in the US. I notice your 601 has a Champion collet pinion. That would lead me to believe it was a factory installation. Also. your bushing's axle holes are set low for using a smaller rear tire than I previously mentioned. My guess is they had collets to keep them on an axle.
