If you have more racers than available heats/lanes, how do you conduct your races?

I'm interested for when you have 17 or 25 racers competing on an 8-lane track.

Which heat gets the round robin?

The first or the last?

ISRA Rules do not cover this eventuality.

The A Main is 8 racers. B or C Mains would be round robins

In any round-robin I've ever seen, racers start coming in & going out at the end of the first heat. If you did qualifying, you might offer the fastest qualifiers the choice to race as they qualified or give them a sit out until after the 8th heat.

Bill,
You didn't understand his question.

He wanted to know in say a 25 entry race, with 3 Mains, and no moveups, is the 9 person round robin, main, the C Main or the A Main.

As Bill mentioned, I think traditionally it's the C Main.

Bill,
I think you were thinking with SRT, where you can run huge Round Robin's, and people sometimes did.

In the huge Round Robin's, you would occasionally read race reports where a racer missed going in.

The system on my King only allows 15 racers in a round robin.

After that you have to run 2 or more mains.

Regardless, I think Z got his answer.

The local tracks ran Trackmate & Trackmate II.  In a couple IROC races, I still remember starting on heat #25 in one & heat #28 in a second race. That meant my cars had already run more than an hour those nights before I touched them,
