Some time ago, I read a Slotblog post authored by Eddie Shorer indicating that he would be traveling up the West Coast to Vancouver sometime during July and August and that he would like to visit commercial and club tracks along the way. Although I do not know Eddie personally, his many thoughtful posts and replies on Slotblog indicate that he is a kindred spirt. Besides, he nearly always “likes” Electron Raceway and STR posts so he is OK in my book. After several emails, we settled on August first for a visit to Electron Raceway. This date coincides with our regularly scheduled race at Electron and it so happens that Can Am/Gran Sport and True Scale Sports Cars will be featured.
Eddie resides in Southern California and is a seasoned veteran of 1/24 and 1/32 hard body racing. He participates regularly at Buena Park Raceways’ (BPR) D3 1/24 hard body races which date back to 2007. Check out the images below recorded at the 2007 NASCAR race. Note that at the time, the cars featured in-line; scratch-built chassis with what looks like 36D motors

Some time ago, Paul Wolcott aka “Pablo” renowned scratch-builder created a Lola T70 for Eddie (note that the car pictured below sports a 1/24 Tamiya plastic body, the very same used by many of us in our Can-Am class). This car is very quick and is raced at BPR. I have asked Eddie to bring it along to see how it runs at Electron. He may even decide to enter his Lola in our Can-Am/Gran Sport race.
See below for images of the car and racing action at BPR. Note Eddie as the winner shown in the middle of the podium shot
Eddie also races with the Farrout club which focuses on 1/32 plastic cars run with few modifications. The Club races at several tracks in Southern California including Eddies’ own track (the Mini Boola built by friend and track builder, Bob Scott) and Steven Farr-Jones’ track (see images below)
