As usual, John Weaver jumped out to an early lead but had Peter Lentros in hot pursuit. At the change to the inside lanes, Pete trailed by just one lap. Meanwhile, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood was running in third, four laps in arrears, while Ray Lee was another four laps back. Paul Ryer and Richard Payne were running off the pace but within three laps of each other while George Samuel closed out the field.
