Word around the campfire is that a new raceway is being created in Texas.

Anyone hear news about this?

Haven't heard anything but then I don't keep up that well. Interesting.

There's a TSRA race meet in San Antonio this coming Friday-Saturday. I'll try to remember to ask Jim and P. A. about it.

Maybe to do with Earl reopening?

We are in a delayed process of getting both new tracks up and going. The oval will be in operation first and the the super high speed 1/8 mile drag will come alive. We will hopefully have it all operational before the holidays this year. Check in every few weeks for latest updates on racing again!!!

When I spoke with P.A. about a month ago, he didn't mention any new raceways, but he was pretty certain he would be moving to a different location in Houston that's probably occurring about now. Landlord at his present location increased the lease substantially.

P. A. also indicated one of the private track owners (there are several in Texas) had contacted him to discuss an event in the Texas race series. Any of these things could have triggered a new raceway rumor.

What tracks is Coolman's reopening with? I heard that the King went out to Slidell, LA. I also heard that Capital City's oval and drag strip went there, too.

We up near Tyler have inquiring minds!!!

Yes, Coolman's King definitely is in Slidell, LA. I ran on it there. They have it set up exactly as it was in Dallas. Don't know origin of the oval and drag strip, but the oval is a nice size. Very nice raceway if anyone's interested.

Here's the link to the Capital City Slot Cars in Pflugerville, TX, near Austin. It shows their oval and the drag strip. Perhaps these are the one in Slidell?

I've been wanting to get down to play on the Kingleman at Capital City. It's a fast track and a great bunch of racers.

Yes, Scott, the Capital City oval does look like the one in Slidell. I didn't pay much attention to the drag strip, so I can't say whether it's the same. Unfortunately, drag strips all look pretty much the same to me; not a slot drag racer.

I'm not a drag racer either but the way they had the drag strip finish running over the Kingleman short chute/donut was an interesting use of space.

Thanks for the info, Bill.

Speedway Slot Car Racing in Slidell, LA, has a sufficiently large building that the drag strip has its own space to the side of the King, oval, and pit area. It doesn't need to pass over another track, although I agree, that was a clever way to accommodate everything in a smaller footprint.

Does anyone have contact information for Capitol City Raceways that the owners monitor? So far I have tried:

Phone (no answer and no voice mail set up)

eMail (no response)

Facebook Messenger (no response)

I'd like to visit while we are in the Austin area over the holidays but can't get ahold of anyone to confirm days, hours and racing schedules.

Thanks!

They race on Tuesday's at 7pm, open roughly at 5pm.

Alternate LMP and Nascar each week. Nov 22 was nascar, Nov 15 was LMP. Use cr104 motors.

It's above the paintball shop which is open on Friday and Saturday so call on those days to possibly get ahold of someone.

Thank you for the response. I have updated the raceway listings with this information.

I hope we can encourage the raceway to update their web page and Facebook page.
