Hi,

I'm looking for a lane/pin striping tool. There's been a cheap one at JC Whitney but I can't find it anymore. The Beugler set surely is very good but also is more than $100. But if there's nothing else...

Thanks a lot. :)

I bought mine a few years back from Micro-Mark, but a quick check of their latest on-line catalogue reveals nothing :(

This thread on OWH may be of some assistance to you :)

A quick Google search of "striping tool" bought up:

THIS

and

THIS

and 733,000 others. :D :D

I bought ours HERE (scroll about half way down and you'll see a picture) a few years back. The kits starts at about $20.

I have stripped a lot of lanes with the $8 one. Just test on a scrap first, paint viscosity is the trick, too thin and will run out, too thick and it can skip.

Another hot tip if you have the time. I think the best paint I ever used for stripping and staying on was LATEX water-based paint, once dry it is way more durable than any solvent-based paint to cleaning solvents. And it comes in lots and lots of shades...

+1 on the latex! all of your local home depot, lowes, walmarts and the like normally have them. I think they were about 3$ per color

Is this labeled as just latex outside paint or is it something different?

Home Depot, "Painters Choice", comes in pints and quarts.
Thin it to the consistency of milk.
save old oil and traction glue bottles (the plastic ones) clean them out and use them for
each different color.
Buy blue red yellow black and white, you can mix the other colors ! :)

Every paint store has that wire display rack with about 40 small bottles in it of every color you need. It is latex. I would guess that even Createx from a craft store would work well too. It only takes about 3 ounces to do both sides of a King Track lane. ( thin strip) I also used a plastic bottle for each color like KC.......

The new cheapy line painters may be ALL plastic now, I never used one of those, mine was pot metal, probably 15 years old..........

Thanks for the info. I'm getting ready to restripe my garage track and I'll give this paint a try.. Probably get some Createx and see how it works.

When I first striped the track I built a nice little jig and used something called paint sticks. This worked great until I tried to clean the track good. Just about anything I used , coleman fluid, mineral spirits, lighter fluid, etc. took this paint off... even after a couple years....
