The Doghouse Gang chose a hot, muggy Saturday for another IROC race. But this one was a little different from previous IROC races, as we prepped four Parma Flexi-2s to be our car of choice. Usually, our IROC races utilize the trusty T-Flex. A little twist this time. They say that variety is the spice of life.
We had a decent turnout for this Saturday race, as six members showed up for battle. The gang...
(From L to R: Jim Beasley, Allen Evans, Dan Parker, Marty Cwiakala, Bob Arneson, and Richard Sylvester)
Richard took time to paint some new bodies for us to abuse in this race. Four Peugeot bodies with paint jobs to match their assigned lanes. As you know, IROC racing is intended to level the playing field to focus on driver ability. In slot cars, we leave each car on its assigned lane, but as we rotate through the lanes, the car stays on the same lane. We move our newly-assigned car to the spot where we ended the last heat. It can be a little confusing...especially if someone picks up a car before we've had the chance to properly mark its location.
Anyway, as you can see, Richard did a great job on each of the bodies...
All cars were comparably equipped Flexi-2s, although some ran a little better than others...
As is typical with us, we ran three full races where each driver runs on all four lanes. But today, we did one thing that was slightly unusual. Rather than combine each racer's top two race totals for their grand total, we decided the winner by using only each driver's BEST overall total from one of the three races.
On this day, Allen Evans came out smoking, posting the best single race total...
How about that battle for second place? Three racers on the same lap.
It was a blast. We all had a great time, albeit a little warm here in the Sunny South. But summertime brings out the best in all of us...well...to a degree, anyway...
Next up in August: JK Indy Cars. We love them. They're great cars, and we're grateful for the support we get from JK Products to keep our cars running well. Although we didn't set the exact date, it will likely be the third or fourth Saturday in the month.
Until then, keep it in the slot.
