Yup, right color scheme for the Penske Sunoco-sponsored cars. I may have watched Mark race to a Trans-Am second place at Lime Rock in his first year, but the years I went to Lime Rock, the Trans-Am race was Memorial Day weekend and conflicted with the Indy 500, so the big names often skipped Lime Rock. After winning the 1967 USRRC Championship, Penske sold the Lola T-70 to an SCCA amateur racer from New York that campaigned it at Lime Rock in A Sports Racing. I've seen that car up close and personal in the Lime Rock paddock. After Jim Clark was killed, blue and yellow replaced green and yellow as my favorite colors for a long time. I once had one of my road bicycle frames custom painted blue with yellow trim. I still like the combination, although I select purple more often these days.

i knocked debby harry on the floor and helped her up at an iggy pop show in 77...i must just walk into peopleback in those days

The FA-18. Next to the F-22, my favorite jet, warbird or otherwise. Certainly the type of plane you might see Donohue flying, colorscheme not withstanding. Although a company I worked for made parts for them, I only got up close to one once, at the airshow at the old Glenview Naval Air Station.
I was so impressed by the entrance one of the Blue Angels made to start their routine. He flew in, very low over the grandstands, flat out. Then immediately went vertical, going completely out of sight in just seconds. He came over us so low and fast that we could feel the compression as he passed. I still remember the number on the tail, 7. The rest of their show was just as amazing.

Maybe Mark would have taken one apart to make it better.
Eastbound on I-105 on the way to the shop. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I have seen this type of cargo going down the freeway. They are always covered up.

Some video from last years practice day at the Chicago Air and Water Show;
This clip shows what I was talking about in my previous post. He didn't come in as low as he did at the Naval Air station show, but you can see how quickly he went vertical and out of sight. He also goes supersonic for less than a second, the boom barely noticeable because he is so close. The buildings break it up so it we can't hear it out in the suburbs.
The Air and Water Show is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and is free. Today and tomorrow are practice days, where all the acts practice their routines. The practice days are also open to the public, and usually as well attended as the show itself. With bad weather predicted for Saturday and Sunday, I suspect the crowds today and tomorrow will be large.
