The 5th annual Southern Retro Rumble will be held at Fast Eddie's Slot Cars & Raceway located at 5609 70th Ave North, Pinellas Park, FL, on Sept 24-25, 2022
 
The event will be run under IRRA rules and is our Gator Region Retro Racing (GRRR) race #9 Florida points race for the year. 
 
We hope you get the chance to come join us racing against some of the best Retro racers in the SE United States for this two-day event on two of the fastest tracks in the south.

154' Ogilvie Hillclimb and 126' Ogilvie trioval.

Below is a schedule for the days of practice and races.
 
Sept 22, Thursday - Practice - Doors open at 2 PM and close at 9:30 PM.

Sept 23, Friday - Practice - Doors open at 11 AM. If we have enough interest, we will run a 4.5" Stock Car race on the Hillclimb track for fun at 9 PM.

Sept 24, Saturday  - Doors open at 8 AM. GT Coupe qualifying at noon on the Hillclimb track, race to follow. Retro Stock Car qualifying 4:30 PM on the trioval, race to follow qualifying.

Sept 25, Sunday  - Doors open at 8 AM. Can-Am qualifying 10:30 AM on the Hillclimb track, race to follow qualifying. Formula 1 qualifying at 3 PM on tri-oval, race to follow qualifying.

 

Entry fees will be $15 for each class and a $15 pit pass on Sat and Sun. Lunch will be provided on both days.
 
If you're not familiar with the area... there are plenty of hotels and food venues within a five-mile radius of the raceway.

 

I have secured a block of double-queen bed rooms at $89 per night for racers from September 21-25 at the Fairfield by Marriott located at 2575 54th Ave North, St. Pete, FL 33714, which is 3.7 miles away; call (727) 685-1555. Also the Quality Inn for $59 per night, located at 2595 54th Ave North, St. Pete, FL 33714, and they are also 3.7 miles from the raceway; call (727) 220-0600. When registering, mention Fast Eddie's.

What time are you opening Wednesday? Any racing Wednesday night?

No racing Wednesday night on the trioval or Hillclimb tracks. We do have drag racing going on that night though.
 
We will be opening at 3 PM on Wednesday.

Has anyone been able to book at the Comfort Suites yet?

Any chance of getting a special rate at the nearby LaQuinta Inn?

I stayed at the LaQunita Inn the two times I went to the Rumble.

 

It is not a great hotel but is very convenient to the raceway and for the race it is just a place to sleep. If I make it back I will probably use them again.

Yes, I stayed there the last two times too, and while not fancy it is the closest and worked fine for me.  

 

As I recall Fast Eddie was able to get a special rate for slot racers there, too.

Comfort Suites has been removed from the list. We added Fairfield Inn by Marriott located next door to the Quality Inn. La Quinta Inn did not want to offer any special rates this year. Both the Fairfield and Quality Inn are only 3.7 miles from the raceway.
