I received this terribly sad email tonight from Annette Poynor...

"Craig Correia had asked me when something happens to him to please let you and his slot car buddies know.

Craig passed away this morning, August 12, after a 10-year battle with cancer. He was 64. I visited him again just last week in South Lake Tahoe. He was so excited, he got his new printer up and running so he could print out his chassis designs. We lost another great slot car builder and racer (Team RID).

I will look for a nice picture of him; you probably have some. I know there is a good one from about 2015 where he was racing at our home in Riverside, attached.

Annette Poynor"

I probably do have some pics of Craig but will have to search later this weekend. If anyone else has a good pic or two of Craig, please post them.

I'm going to have a hard time getting to sleep tonight...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Craig was an excellent chassis designer and builder. He had a nice Facebook page (International Scratchbuilders Assoc.) on scratchbuilt chassis and cars. He will be missed.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks, Craig, for your kind help, and the Camaro body you gave me a couple years ago to get my Hardbody collection going.

My thoughts and prayers to your family.

RIP, Craig.

So sorry to hear Craig has passed. He is truly missed in our little racing community. Good racer and chassis builder – and a very nice man.

RIP, my friend. Prayers for your family.

Craig was one tough man, both in his racing and in his surviving his illness for as long as he had. I'll never forget his coming to my track for a one-off race and beating all of us like it was just another day at the races.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Aww, no. Craig was one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

He picked up my spirits so many times with late night talks, and at a time I knew he was battling bigger problems of his own.

I will cherish the many chassis he built for me over the last twelve years.

Godspeed, Craig. You will be sorely missed.

More bad news... Like Eddie said, Craig was an awesome driver as well as an awesome builder and I remember several years ago, after not racing for a while with his illness, he came back to run to a couple of great podium finishes in big SCRRA races.

Rest in peace, my friend.

When I started racing Retro at Buena Park Raceway in April, 2010, Keith Tanaka found two men to build complete RTR cars for me. One of them was Craig. I raced his Can-Am and F1 at my very first Retro race on the Buena Park King.

I have many great memories of you from the Checkpoint races I attended. Very sad.

Craig was a BPR legend when I would attend. He always had a kind word for us "rookies" while on the track. Many fond memories.

Will miss him.

Craig showed us what courage was all about. While battling severe health issues, Craig would continue to race and excel at BPR whenever he felt strong enough to do so.
