Despite a couple of teething issues, this motor/chassis combo, under a wing car body is a flyer..............................

The ESC is from Italy - courtesy Stefano Mirabelli.

The motor is a Flashhobby Arthur 1207, 7000KV, geared 13:37

I need to regear it 11:37 or 10:35, and install a capacitor on the ESC at the power leads, to avoid it damaging the board.

Further testing beckons  :)

Sadly, old age and brain fade make poor bedfellows :(

When testing my car after changing gear ratios, I gave it a run on my Gophert 16 voly variable power supply.

The motor started to run at 1.64 volts, so I gradually increased the power whilst listening to the revs build up.

Without looking at the dials on my power supply, I guessed that I inadvertently went over 12 volts and promptly "fried" the BLDC :(

One hell of a way to learn!!

Ron, why would that burn it up?

Because I had bypassed the inversion protection mosfet after I had previously blown it :(

Remember, we are all still in the experimental stages of slot car racing these motors/ESC's

How did you blow it the first time?

And, assuming you didn't wire it up backwards, why would bypassing the inversion protection cause it to blow simply by upping the voltage on the power supply?

Not to disparage your ESC, but I don't think I've heard of any of the Bob Budge ESC's frying.

The positive lead wire had become unsoldered rom the ESC board after 5 laps of practice, so I resoldered it back on and gave it a run on my workbench power supply at the track.

Unfortunately, I saw what I thought was a white LED glowing, but it turned out to be the mosfet cooking :(

Out of interest, how many Bob Budge's ESC are floating around out there, and who has one?

As I said earlier, brushless racing is still at an experimental/development stage  :)

Sh*t is gonna happen.

I think I saw a pic of 5-6 cars with them from Richard Mack. And it seems like at a few of their buddies have them. So there's enough floating around to indicate that they're not frying. Or if they are no one's talking about it.

I get your point that the options are limited, but the Italian ESC (I don't know what it's called) has been problematic. Until he gets the bugs ironed out, I don't consider it a very good option. No disrespect to him.At least he's giving it a go.

I don't think the fault lies with Stefano's ESC, but rather with heavy fisted players like me :(
