The kit, of course.
The question is, is it a "kit" of what you need to race, or is it a "kit" to build a car? Most beginner customers I see want to build their cars.
Alleged amateur racer.
Mostly just play with lots of cars.
Able to maintain slot cars with a single bound.
Faster than a speeding Womp.
More powerful than a 36D.

I'd like to see a red or blue box, a RTR car, resistor type controller, a tire tool and a bottle of oil. Retail no higher than $149.99
Ready to race boxstock set-up.

Not disparaging this, as it looks good for what it is... but now consider young people in 2022. You're giving them something that they don't relate to. They want street racers, like "The Fast and the Furious" cars. And yes, I know, that movie is over 20 years old now, but that's what they relate to.
Can we do something from this century next?

Mike,
Slot cars are not a 'Field of Dreams.' It's not a case of 'if you make it, they will buy."
Venue is the problem here. Go through Slotblog's Raceway List and count how many commerical raceways with 1/24 road courses are in operation. Sure, there's probably a few I've missed listing, but it isn't more than a few percent. I haven't done this recently but someone else has and he didn't get to 100 raceways in the entire US.
So where's that kid who lusts after and buys a F&F ricer slot car going to run his car?
There's a whole bunch of small oval tracks in basements and garages where midgets like Roger's Holeshot can be run, way, way more than the few commercial slot car raceways where a 1/24 F&F cars can be enjoyed.
An additional fact of importance here is that the demand for the original Monogram midget has remained strong for a good number of years. Pieces from the new kit will also be a boon to people who are restoring older midgets.

If Roger sells this thing to slot car raceways, don't worry about kids buying it for $139.99.
They aren't the customers; it's for their grandparents to cherish.

A product filling a need that isn't there.
As much as I'm not a fan of "F&F," a ricer would have been a better choice.
A kid coming into a raceway with their father or grandfather would see it and want it and then could run with the dad/granddad.

It is a neat kit. At least someone is putting out a product like this that can be built and raced.
Maybe the next kit will be a F&F style kit if this one sells decently
I would not stock this kit as it is not something raced locally but the idea of it makes me envious for people that are able to build and race it out of a box.
I think about the slot car track I used to work at as a kid and how many RTR kits I sold and how easy it was to get into racing back then.

Some of you guys are completely missing out on how great of a release this is for us who love vintage slot cars and their history. I will probably buy several - one for the shelf and one, two, or more to build and enjoy. Don't care if they get raced (but they will at NJ Vintage Racing at Dom's Raceway in Cream Ridge, NJ). Naysayers can simply ignore this release, no reason to bash it.
And I hope for more retro kits to come - Monogram is my favorite brand from the 1960s.

The Fast & Furious series might have a lot of cultural influence (no doubt, it does) but look at how the Transformers movie series have influenced the automotive industry. Most cars today have folds, angular surfaces, creases and so on. It's almost like the designers dropped some acid and watched '80s IMSA races and the Transformers at the same time. The newest Chevy Camaro being a prime example (it's ugly) but the demographic it was built for love it.
So maybe someone needs to make a "Transformer" car as that is the foundation of many of the popular cars today.
Thank you to Roger to releasing the sprint car again!

I fully agree on both points!
But the kit is now out in the marketplace!
Has anyone built one? How easy is it to build? And how does it run box stock? Hopefully a lot better than the AMT slot car kits from ten years ago which looked fabulous but basically couldn't be run on a slot car track at all.

Would any of Monogram's other 1/24 scale slot car bodies also fit this chassis?
