The first race of the 2022-23 USRRA racing season will be held on Oct 29 at Mark's Model World in Massillon, OH. Yes, Massillon OH.

 

A lot of changes have been made since last season's racing. Mark's Model World has moved to a new location in Massillon, OH.

The new location is smaller than the old location which has required us to race on the 136 ft flat track. The king track will be in storage.

 

We will be running GT Coupe and Can-Am. Doors will open at 8am. Tech will start at 10am. Power off at 10am.

I would like to know what other motors are legal for this race? IRRA rules only? CR2 only? 

 

In past seasons the PO races even let us use Puppy Dogs if we wanted to.

Hey Marc. All three series will be conducted strictly to IRRA rules. Which means that the allowed motors are the Chicagoland motor as mentioned above, and the last versions of the JK Retro Hawk motor. No Puppy Dogs are allowed. I urge everyone to locate the IRRA rules that are posted on Slotblog and read them thoroughly. Also, no tape is allowed under the chassis.

 

So, Marc, if you or anyone else have some very good Retro Hawk motors, they might be very competitive on this flat track. Once the flat track is put up, I will probably do some testing with Retro Hawks myself.

 

 

Approved Motors for use in IRRA® Racing Motor Rules – effective June 1, 2022 – © IRRA®:

 

1) JK Retro Hawk FK, part number JKHR M8: M28: • JKHR M8 (short shaft) or M28 (long-shaft), laser-marked with either multiple ‘7R’s or a series of eight or nine continuous ‘R’s, i.e. ‘R R R R R R R R’.

 

2) Chicagoland Stage 2, part number CR102 • Motor must be laser-marked with ‘CR STAGE 2 MADE IN CHINA.’

I did not know that the track is not set up yet. was thinking of going there soon.

Update: all19 track section have been cleaned of the old braid glue. We are making good progress.

Sounds like there has been some hard work going on!

sorry I live 60 miles away and can't go there often.

Is it correct that the track will have magnetraction braid?

Mark told me that the new braid that he will lay down is NOT magnetic.

The Penn-Ohio/ORS/USRRA race at Mark's on Sept 24 has been cancelled. We are still hopeful that the race schedule on Oct 8th will be held.
