For anyone interested. Warning! Long and boring.
The designer's name is Pete Smits. He came up with a new open-source firmware called AM32. I don't know anything about that stuff, but Pete designed Bob Budges ESC and modified AM32 for slot car use.
I mention this because it might be difficult getting Bob's speed control in the US, even after he starts selling them. So making them stateside might be of interest to someone. I'm sure for a small fee Pete would lend knowledge and guidance.
Pete shows this ESC coming to life at just over 2 volts, and coming to life quickly.
Here's a thread about it: https://www.rcgroups...er#post47823413
In the video comments, some ask, "Alka is this the same as the AM32 project??" and Pete answers, "Yes, this is the same base firmware, with signal check and startup beeps removed." So apparently AM32 did not require much alteration to make it work with slot cars.
here's the AM32 github page https://github.com/A...or-ESC-firmware
But here's the reason for the holdup on Bob's ESC. The micro controller chip that Pete used, stm32g071gbu6 MCU, is nowhere to be found, and hasn't been for several months. https://www.st.com/e...tm32g071gb.html
