Coupes on the Figure 8 – 9/27/22
Coupes were back on the Figure 8 this week in MVH’s Tuesday evening retro series. A field of nine racers ran the middle six lanes allowing three racers to work the corners.
John Weaver set the pace, running sub-3 second laps in almost every heat as the next five racers were all posting times in the 3.0s. It was clear no one was going to keep up with John as he drove to victory by a 19 lap margin over 2nd place racer Ray Lee. Completing the podium, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood claimed 3rd, trailing Ray by 3 laps and finishing 3 laps ahead of Dave Panich.
Meanwhile, Rolly Lapierre Jr and Pete Lentros were in a tight race for 5th with Rolly prevailing by 1 lap. Richard Payne held off Dan Savage to take 7th by 4 track sections while Joe Yates closed out the field.
Weaver’s 2.906 lap topped the timing chart with Rolly posting the 2nd fastest time with a 3.015.
