About a month ago I received two 1/24th scale bodies from my friend Nesta.  He likes to paint and so all the exterior work was done by him, but he contracted me to build the chassis and paint the interiors.
Both bodies are molded in fiberglass and seemed pretty cleanly done.  Not much was need to source for either one of the cars beyond the chassis and interior details.

So first up is the Opel.

Chassis for both cars is heavily derived from the retro scene.

And that is the Opel GT.  chassis movement is tilting pans only and the fit is tight since this is a small car for 1/24th scale.  Rear wheels roll in ball bearing races.
Gears are 64 pitch of unknown manufacturer. Although the pinion could be an ARP angled. Axles are a tiny bit under 1/8th dia.

The VW bug is also a fiberglass body.  Again I have no idea who made it but the quality is good.

Interior as with the Opel is vacuum formed.  Some sort of generic interior that required a lot of cutting down.  As with the Opel I made a set of roll bars from polystyrene rod.

Wow, dust really shows up when you least expect it....

Chassis movement is just floppy pans not connected to the body since it's so lightweight.  Mounting is by two posts front and rear.

Again the wheels are tight to the fenders but roll freely.

Gears again 64 pitch and the rear axle is 3/32" spinning in ball bearing races.

They were fun projects to build and I am looking foward to the next two Nesta is sending, a Jag and a 240 Z which are getting the jail door treatment.

Updates as they occur.

Respectfully submitted,  B:)

Lovely builds Jairus and I have actually owned several beetles and an Opel GT.

Is all the brass custom cut or were some of the pieces sourced?

Well Larry, I have been collecting brass for years.  Some of it is bits produced by Bryan Warmack (front pans) but heavily modified and motor mounts by Rgeo, also modified.  Pans and the rest are raw brass and and steel wire.

Nice pipes on both cars. Nesta's paint is special too!  :sun_bespectacled:
