New raceway on Staten Island

But thanks to John and Tara Vitale that dream has once again become a reality in Tottenville.
Right off Amboy Road opposite Revolution Dance is a warehouse and in the back is a state of the art facility. There is a large Hillclimb track that I had the privilege to test some cars out on. The cars ran great. They are currently not officially open yet... but the plan is to give the kids (and adults) of Staten Island a new and exciting place to race and have birthday parties, corporate events, or just about anything you can throw their way. They are just getting their feet wet, and getting the kinks out.
I am helping them out with ordering cars, parts, and various other things to get them going.
It should be a great new facility, and something Staten Island needed.
So break out those old cars and let’s get them going again... probably just a new set of tires.
Get those kids away from their cell phones and iPads... and let's get racing!
The place is called Race Ya, 5077 Arthur Kill Road, unit D.
Check them out on Instagram.

Good luck to them! Let's hope they get into some Retro racing. Maybe it could be another place to have Retro East races.

Track very closely resembles the Hillclimb at Dom's Raceway.

I remember a track in the late '60s on New Dorp Lane. I raced in an Interstore series there.

Google Maps says it's 60 miles from SpeedZone. Nice.

If it wasnt for that series I never would have gone to SI to race! I remember driving out there with Lew Kanerek in his red '64 Dodge convertible 383 four-speed over the Verrazano Bridge. Lew actually won concours with a discarded Frank O'Conner body.
