This years race turned out to be huge fun because we saw old friends returning and a new enthusiastic racer who I hope will be a regular at our other events.

As usual we started setting up before sunrise and once all the pieces were in place started running in the track a little after 8.

Setting up a modular track on a sloped and uneven surface doesn't always produce consistent results but I think we've worked out some better methods and added some

upgrades and this years setup was the best so far. Nice smooth racing with all the section joints aligned well and no "jump" on the back straight to send cars flying.

A huge Thank You to all who set up and tore down out "kit".

We had expected 17 racers and guest but a few had issues and couldn't make it but we wound up with 12 racers and Bobby our Official Turn Marshal.

Those who attended were,

Bobby Newnum, Lee Bumbalow, Steve Hill, KC Kennedy, Stan Ferris, Brandon Morris, Herb Morris, Rick Bachman, Tyler Bachman, Ryan Bachman, Mike Pyska, myself and

newcomer Carey Wiess.

 So here we go!

We had scheduled 7 races and had sponsors lined up to provide race prizes for each of them however we we're all pretty relaxed and enjoying catching up and in no hurry for it to be over and so we only manage to complete 4 races.

First was Revo Slot.

We run the deep guide provided with the cars but other than minor set up adjustment all we allow is the use of Revo foam rear tires.

This had been considered as an IROC race but The Bachman men had purchase three new cars and so had Brian who couldn't make it so we ran it as a regular race and

loaned cars to anyone who didn't have one.

It was an interesting race.

The Bachmans haven't raced here in 12 years and had never set up or run a Revo and neither had Cary and yet they ran nice clean races while the rest of us marveled at

Rick Schonfeld's Viper as we followed him around the track.

"Steel" Brian had sponsored the race but couldn't be here so Rick will pick up his prize at a future event.

I had forgotten how long it takes to run a 4 lane race with 9 racers and the Bachmans had to leave but Herb and Brandon had arrived so the next race would take a while too.

Next up was Lee's Stockers IROC

These are old stocker bodies on H&R chassis running H&R slip on silicones and the purple BRM 22.5K / 340GC long can motor.

These are a favorite of us who are used to running them but the new guys struggled a bit but it was a door banging, fun race.

Slammin' Steve picked 'em up and put 'em down to run off with it but the rest of us were not far behind.

While it was happening Steve also managed to get this cool shot.

Carey shot this one of almost the whole track.

Somewhere along in here we ordered lunch. Would it be pizza or sub sandwiches.

I didn't care, I was thinking about one of my favorite FB memes...

Lunch?.png

There was a large Blok wanting pizza but then there were those who shudder at the thought of finding even microscopic traces of pineapple on a pizza.

So we went with subs.

Let's see...

We're racing children's toys for bowling trophies.

And we're all out of trophies.

I remember this every time I encounter someone getting upset while racing but now I'll remember that you shouldn't take yourself too seriously when you find you are  racing...

SHOPPING KARTS

Yup! KC Kennedy brought his IROC set of Flexi based shopping Karts.

Let the games begin!

I'm not sure if Mike is watching them barely clear the underside of the Vortex or ducking flying groceries.

This was a brawl. We were all newbies with these over powered super top heavy "thingies"!

We had plenty of Marshals and we gave Bobby the remote track call switch and I think there was as much time under yellow as there was under green!

In the end Slammin Steve kept his Icee in his cart more than the rest of us and won $25 of Black Friday Shopping money from KC the Sponsor

We had so much fun with the Karts that we noticed it was getting late so we set up for what would be the last race of the day.

Sideways Group 5

We extract everything we can get out of these by running them on silicoated foams and (optional) Slot-it Evo 1.0 motor pods.

GROUP5 LINE UP.jpg

This was a hotly contested race. Not IROC style. Everybody got quiet and put their head down and raced. I loaned Herb one of my best cars and if a wire hadn't broken we

might have had a new race winner. As it turned out Lee and I finished on the same lap and he was ahead to take the win.

He got to take this baby home for his efforts.

I again want to thank everyone who raced and who helped put the race on. It was fun.

The Bachman guys had sponsored the 1/24th Can Am race and left a really cool race prize for it but we didn't get to that race. We'll run it sometime in the future and hand

this out to the winner.

Thanks to Stan Ferris, Steve Hill and Carey Wiess for Photos!!!

And Welcome Carey, hope you had a good time.
