Hot off the presses! Some of you have seen me posting various questionnaires on different topics related to slot cars throughout the years for presentations at national Popular Culture conferences. I’ve put six of those papers together with links to the PowerPoint presentations in a nicely-illustrated book. It’s now available on Amazon.

My review of Eddie Shorer's new slot racing book available through Amazon.  Gift it for yourself for Christmas. You won't be disappointed.
 
"It's not often a book comes along and captures the interests of your youth and couples them with those through the decades to the present. Eddie Shorer does with this book on slot racing. Or as I describe it to those unaware of the hobby - "electric cars on a track."

Presented in the form of presentations given at Popular Culture Association National Conferences from 2008-2021 it captures the essence of youthful enthusiasm and how it can serve one as they continue on their journey through life. Learning new and different things, meeting new and different people, and learning skills that remain with someone for a lifetime. It's found in this book.

As a teenager I worked in the manufacturing, wholesale, and retail aspects of the slot racing hobby. As well as being a participant/competitor and a journalist covering it for trade media of the era I can say with no hesitation the essence of the hobby is between the pages of this book.

Many thanks to Mr. Shorer for sharing this for all to enjoy. If there is someone in your life that loves slot racing, including yourself, this book needs to be on everyone's bookshelf and collection.

This is an excellent book. I found it uplifting, joyful, and a great reconnection with my past and present. A great motivator to get one deeper into the hobby or back to the hobby. I can't say enough good things about it. Thank you Eddie for the joy!

I am a little late to the party with Shorer's book, but I found it to be great. Being more a racer / builder than a collector I found Eddie's book more on point than the Slot Car Dreams book.
