Thought I'd share this here. OS3 released their TFX awhile ago, but I still haven't really seen many real builds. Most racers seem to be running them as a spec class or "Fray" them out. I wanted to run something a bit more scale so I started to work up a "Narrow TFX" spec that anyone could build. Well things got out of hand, and I ended up building a set of three of 'em!

Coincidentally, at the same time, what really allowed this concept to come together was FLR (FLR Products.com) releasing sets of beautiful machined narrow aluminum & Delrin rims (plus narrow rear silicones). For the Ferrari GTO I used his front rims with the stock TFX O-Rings & a cut-down tungsten axle for the front end, then used a stock T-Jet splined axle & aluminum rims on the rear. This setup gives the perfect ride height at around .352" dia. and the handling isn't affected much at all. In fact, the car is actually easier to drive because the tires are loaded up and it feels much friendlier to drive, not "skitterish" like a stock TFX. The GTO was a junk body I got off EBay and restored. The black 'Vette was an old Eldon body and it mounted up real low with the same setup. The Jag runs the FLR black Delrin rims and allows the body to be dropped to obscene levels. The TFX O-rings weren't used here (they don't fit the Delrin rims) so I sourced some from the local Napa parts store - #727-2002. These fit nice & snug & again, give you the correct ride height.

Oh, almost forgot - you'll want to use a couple spacers on the front end to get the right width, depending on the body you end up using. I capped both aluminum sets with some old Auto World inserts which really set them off. Now, you can duplicate my efforts here with traditional T-Jet, MEV, Vincent or BTO rims & matching the rubber. It really is only limited by your imagination....

That's about it. We're running the class at 1 1/16th" width limit, so Aurora T-Jet sized GT coupes, TransAm sedans, and NASCAR stockers all drop nicely over the chassis and give a scale appearance. More on this class and builds later.... :) Enjoy the pics, and let me know what you think.!

These look really lovely, Dave, I love your attention to detail on the older bodies.

Those are great looking cars. Perfect use of the TFX chassis. Someone should reproduce those old AW inserts!
