It was around 1970 that new Trans Am slot car bodies by Lancer went on sale at Oakland Speedway.  We discussed a new Trans Am class with 4 1/4" wheelbase slot cars.  I purchased a Camaro body and a Javelin body.  I completed both bodies into cars back then.

I decided to recreate/restore my Javelin.  Here it is.  The Classic/Mabuchi can motor has an NCC Group 20 armature and Mura magnets.  The wheelbase is 4 1/4", and the rear tires edge to edge are 3" wide.  Champion chassis pieces were used on the chassis.

The Trans Am class did not catch on locally.  4 1/2" wheelbase stock cars were preferred.

Next up is recreating/restoring the Camaro.

the lancer javelin is an amazing body - the shape & front grille are perfect.

Too bad it didn't catch on, these are great looking cars, and I love your chassis.

Love how that thing sits in the weeds.

Also how you had the incredible foresight to keep it for 50+ years.

And those Village Rambler decals

I wasn't there but 1970 must have been a tough time at the "big" tracks I would assume.
