I just completed this Ferrari "Breadvan" 1/24 slot car. The one-to-one scale Ferrari is a one-off race car built in 1962 to compete with the factory Ferrari GTOs. The car is a modified Ferrari 250 GT with a Piero Drogo-developed aerodynamically advanced body. The aerodynamic extended roof and cut off tail, following Kamm aerodynamic theory, gives the car a shooting-brake look. This led to the car being given the nickname 'Breadvan.'

The body is Carrera brand. I modified a Cox brass 16D sidewinder motor chassis for the car. The motor is a 16D with a home rewound, epoxied, and balanced armature and Mura magnets. The wheels are Riggen with Monogram inserts. Tires are Paul's urethane.

Great-looking car. Drive it carefully, Rodney.

Or this could happen. What a shame.

Thanks, Martin. The real car was crashed and repaired before. It will be repaired again.

Beautiful job, Rod. That chassis goes really well with the car – but you should have used a 36D with all that headroom!

How does it run?

Rod,

Try to ignore that last criticism, Rod. Don just turned 71 and you know how cranky old curmudgeons can be. Maybe he's now retired and has too much time on his hands...

LOL.

Great model, Rodney

I actually drove the car in the paddock at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. It was a Ferrari Club of America regional meet, and Joe Marchetti had brought it, along with several other cars, when he owned it. I was working tech that year, and Joe was taking another car through the line. He asked me to go get the Breadvan, so I did.

Nice :good:

Don't know how you turn out so many cars, amazing.

Any car with a clear hood scoop is tops in my book.

I see those Riggen kidney bean wheels hiding behind those Monogram inserts.

Every time I see that word "Kamm" my mind wanders back to the wonderful Vega Kammback wagon.

What a fine automobile :roflmao:

I'm sure Ferrari wanted everyone to see that beautiful Testa Rossa engine.

I had a Vega GT way back. I was able to pick up one of the Cosworth Vega engines, and had a lot of bright ideas for the car. I pulled molds off the fenders, hood and nosepiece so I could make a fold-open front end for it. The project became stillborn due to other projects I had. So I sold the molds to a fiberglass company that made one-piece fronts for shoebox Chevies. And soon we started seeing big V-8s stuffed into heavily tubing re-inforced Vegas.
