Official Race Report by Bill Pinch

RACE RESULTS from 28 January 2023

GRC 3-HOUR ENDURO - Thanks again to Courtney Smith for coming up with the idea.

We began the day by qualifying, then sorting the results into 5 teams of 3 drivers each.

To make sure everyone made their best effort, Courtney and Century-21 provided at $25 gift certificate for T.Q.!

Dal Taylor edged James Merriman for the top spot as the duo were the only two racers to go sub 5.8. Dal's $25 lap was a 5.720.

We divided the race into two halves with a 15 minute intermission for lunch (thanks again Paul Wolcott for the Chili and cornbread!) and some car maintenance.

The team of James Merriman, Bobby Robinson and Terry Johnson took both halves and the win.

Merrick Taylor's team (Merrick Taylor, Bill Colvard, Mark Trest) were second after the first half, with Courtney Smith's team (Courtney, Eddie Lawley, Sconzo Thomason) sitting third.

During the break, Richie Austin was able to massage Team Quinton's ill-handling car a bit to make it driveable.

In the second half, Team Merrick faded a bit allowing Courtney's crew to move up a spot to second.

Pole winning Team Dal suffered a broken guide flag which caused them to spend most of the 10th heat in the pits. In spite of setting some of he fastest laps in the race, they were unable to make up enough laps to be on the podium.

The result was Team Quinton (Quinton Taylor, Richie, Scott Nolde) were able to make up 18 laps on Merrick's team to secure third. Fast Lap of the day was Dal Taylor's 5.696 (even faster than his T.Q. lap!) with James Merriman scoring best segment of 101.

The Enduro was set for this weekend as the "big car" endurance season began with the 24 Hours of Daytona (which is still underway). We will do a similar event in June, date TBA.
