Samuel L. Ogden, Jr. passed away on October 8. He was a retired schoolteacher, teaching in the Portsmouth Virginia school system for over 30 years. Sam was an avid slot car racer, enjoying many local races and traveling to hobby shows with several friends. He was an active member of the Tidewater Automotive Modelers Society.

Good friend, you will be missed.

I first met Sam in the early '90s, and the past 8-10 years he always asked the organizer of the Baltimore slot car swap meet (Elliot Dalberg) to have our tables together so we could sit and talk all day. He had health concerns so he stayed away during the COVID years, but was supposed to be at the show last September. Was bummed when I got there and Elliot said he canceled at last minute. Will always wonder if he still had COVID concerns, or if he just wasn't feeling right.

No matter, was an avid and knowledgeable collector, and a really nice guy.

RIP!
