So I'm in the process of resurrecting a 1/32 scale Cox Daytona International series

Cucharacha. That's the chassis with the nickel-plated outriggers. Truescale (thanks Victor)

has made me two bodies for it a Ferrari P4 and a Lola...

I used to own (55 years ago) a 1/24th Cuch, but for the life of me cannot remember

how to hook up the leads, braids and inserts. I've bought braids with tinned holes

(I seem to recall that's what the guide uses) but there were no brass inserts included

with this chassis and all my attempts to kluge the connection between the leads and braids has failed.

The car will run 20ft, braid/lead loses connection car stops won't go again. :dash2:

Mad Mark mentioned having some of these pickups...maybe he or someone else has

some thots on how to proceed...

These braid clips would be fairly easy to make out of .016" sheet brass. Are you looking for authentic parts or just something that works?

hello. i have run the tinned braids with holes punched in them in the cox quick change but only with the brass clips. I have a quick change missing the clips too and I think I ran modern braid that I shortened and re bent the ends the take up the space I’ll have to check.

Yes I do have a car I run with no clips and it has unmodified modern braids. i also had a problem with connections and the edge of the braids barely make it to the wire holes but if you push the braid in as far as it goes and have a nice twist of wire it will work.

Something that would work...

Could buy some sheet brass of course, Is that .016 the thickness of the

original inserts?...

Contrariwise, a 4x10" sheet for $12 shipped seems like overkill when I only need <1> square inch!

Alan,

PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a pair of clips and braids.

Thanks everyone for the help...

I found a much less expensive source for the sheet brass on the East coast.

Am I allowed to mention their name in terms of this conversation?
