As many of you may have seen in my eternal podium posting, David Ziuchowski passed away unexpectedly at the end of January.  Dave is the former owner of Stanley J's Raceway in Spokane, WA.  Today several of us opened up a storage unit that Dave has maintained in Spokane for many, many years.  We knew there were several tracks inside, but were stunned at what was there.  As best we can count, the storage unit contains 6 race tracks, and we know of at least one more in a different venue.  There are:

1. A Hasse-built King

2.  An 8-lane Hasse-built Road Course, referred to as a "paperclip".  Do not know the footprint of this track.

3.  A professional-grade routed HO track in 4 sections.  I believe there are 6 lanes, but could be 8.  The total footprint is 6x24.

4.  A full quarter-mile drag strip (55' plus runout), mounted on legs.

5.  Another 6-lane road course of indeterminate length

6.  An 8-lane American Raceway track, painted black, but unclear if it is an original yellow or an actual black.  We believe this track MAY have come from somewhere in Montana.

We believe all of the original power supplies are with the tracks, but they are so crammed in the unit that it will take some time to sort them out.

The second storage unit contains the Monza track.  It is a plywood track, I believe originally from West Seattle Raceway.  Unfortunately, that storage unit is being emptied tomorrow, Feb 19.  Since no one in Spokane has stepped up to claim this track, it will likely go to the landfill tomorrow.

Dave's former partner Denise is liquidating all of these tracks.  She plans to pay the rental on the storage unit for another 30 days.  If no one steps forward to claim the tracks, they will meet the same fate as the Monza.  I am listing these tracks on Denise's behalf.

If you are interested in ANY of these tracks, please PM me immediately.

Were there any pictures taken of the track pieces? The Hasse king may be the one originally from Kent.

No, the Hasse king was built for Dave.  I remember when Hasse came to Spokane and was building it.  It is a great track.  You can imagine what a storage unit containing 6 tracks looks like.  They are stacked such that you cannot walk inside.  We pulled out the HO track and I climbed over the rest to take inventory, but it would take significant muscles and effort to remove the tracks.  I can say they were in a watertight place and appear to be in good shape.

Here are original pictures of the king, paperclip, and HO track.  Everyone knows the shape and blueprint of the king.  Generally what is different is the bank at the end of the straight and leading into the finger.  This picture shows these.  It is neither too flat nor too banked at each turn.

The HO track comes in 4 pieces which look to be 4x6, making it 6x16 altogether.

I don't have the footprint of the paperclip, although we could probably approximate it.

Will likely have to haul out the other tracks to get pictures, which would be an all day job.

BTW, we are down to the 6 tracks listed above.  The Monza was in poorer shape and was taken to the dump.

A couple of people have asked about a price for the paperclip.  As you all know, tracks are difficult to price, so at this point Denise is waiting for someone to step forth with an offer.  Unless you have a better criteria, I think everyone should evaluate the tracks based on what they would be worth to you.

It's the seller's responsibility to price what they have for sale. Everywhere you go that has stuff for sale, it has a price on it.

Phil --

Please remember that I am simply a helper in this equation and I receive no benefit from this sale.

I agree setting prices is the preferred norm.  But I have also seen enough "make offer" signs in my life to know things sometimes get done without following that norm.  And in this case there are at least some people willing to discuss this on that basis.  It is OK if you are not one.

Randy --

Denise still has the yellow track.  People have also expressed interest in the King and the paperclip, but I don't think either one has been finalized.  If you PM me with a phone number I could pass it on to Denise and have her call you.

What all can you tell me about the 6 lane road course?  Do you have any pictures available?

John --

The six listed tracks were all stored together in one very large storage unit, and we would have to take at least half the tracks out of the unit in order to determine the shape and footprint.  We have had interest expressed in the king, paperclip, and American black, but none of them have pulled the trigger, and all of them are closer than Ohio.  It would probably take several guys and several hours to unpack the track to answer the question.  How serious are you about hauling a track to Ohio?

As mentioned above, there were 6 tracks in one storage unit and a seventh (Monza) in a different location.  The Monza went to the dump, but Denise has continued to pay storage on the other six tracks.  Although interest has been expressed in several of the tracks, none has sold.  The cost of maintaining the storage unit has become prohibitive.  Denise would like to sell the entire contents of the unit (which includes power supplies, lap counters, pit tables, etc. in addition to tracks) for $5,000.  If there are no takers, all will go to the dump.

If anyone is interested, please contact Denise directly at 509-995-2827.

OK, last call guys.  Several expressed interest in tracks but nobody came through.  Denise has to vacate the storage unit.  Can have all the contents for $500, but need to call Denise ASAP.  Her direct number is 509-995-2827.  This includes 6 tracks, power supplies, lap counters, powered pit table.

No body trying to save these tracks if it wasn’t 2000 miles each way I would be after them.
