I'm getting ready to paint up this Dynamic Ferrari F1 slim line body.....

Dynamic Slim Line Ferrari GP (5).JPG

.......for this 1968 style angle winder:

aw gp (10).JPG

I searched for period pictures of the 1967 Ferrari F1. Every picture I could find

shows a tiny windscreen apparently mounted on top of what looks like a "conventional"

full sized painted over windscreen:

a8a2d80accf578d00e9833b5c21381d0.jpg

Here's a closeup of the Dynamic body with what looks like a conventional

full size windscreen and no tiny one mounted on top:

DSCN2867.JPG

I found pictures of the 1966 F1 car with a full windscreen but the engine configuration

is clearly different from this Dynamic body. The 1968 F1 car has a tiny windscreen also.

I can't find any pictures of Dynamic's version of this car. Are there any out there or is this

just a "vintage slot car mystery"?

Thanks for looking and any ideas............

Rick, this is confusing because the Ferrari 312 went thru a lot of iterations over the years and the early versions were much cleaner up around the cockpit area as is the case with your body. Here is a shot of an early version of the 312 ... I think this might be a Chris Amon car.

Ok, that one doesn't match your body exactly either but it's a lot closer.

Just a thought.

On the 1 to 1 car the "windshield" extends much farther forward than the slot body.

Much closer to the body parting line above the front axle.

It looks to me like that whole area is supposed to be red including the mirror pods.

Dynamic usually did a good job but it looks like they didn't go far enough forward in this area.

It's possible the body they produced was off of drawings or pictures but the actual car was changed after Dynamic tooled it.

Of course, this is all speculation.

The only thing I have in common with a Ferrari is that we are both Italian  :)

As a manufacturer of bodies, it is sometime nessesary to fudge the dimensions just a bit in an effort to avoid producing a "one body fits one chassis" kind of product. A more universal fit has a better chance of selling more bodies. I expect this was true back in the day also. It may help to explain Dynamic's larger percentage of "off scale" appearance on this particuler body? I am still amazed at the detail produced on vaccum formed bodies back then.

I don't quite understand your post.

Are you hoping for a pic of the 1/1 Ferrari that mimics the slot car body, or admonishing Dynamic for not accurately depicting the real car?

I'm not an expert on vacuforming but I don't see how they could of molded in that minor detail.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing else about that body is "exactly" to scale.

You aren't the only one who doesn't understand my post Mike and I'm sorry for that. Rodney called me and our
good friend Eric didn't either.

I thought my closing comment summed things up

I thought I was asking for a picture of Dynamic's version of the real car or if a car like it even exists.

I understood and I went looking myself Rick ( and did not find pics of the real car) and I came to the conclusion that Dynamic may have used artistic freedom to make this body.

I could not find a pic of a real Ferrari F1 car with molded in mirrors in that position, as on your body.

If you decide to paint the windshield then add the small additional deflector clear screen on top. That would be an option I would consider.

That's what I thought you were asking.

That seems like the best answer.

"I can't find any pictures of Dynamic's version of this car."

"I thought I was asking for a picture of Dynamic's version of the real car or if a car like it even exists."

When I read the first line, in Red, I assumed you were looking for pictures of a Dynamic slot car body that depicted the real car.

FWIW, in the Steve O'Keefe listing, the car is referred to as a '68.

Screenshot_20230304_132653_Chrome.jpg

Whether it be a '67 or '68, that small windscreen is a very minor detail on the blueprint pictures.

If I came across those blueprints without  seeing a pic of the real car first, I would assume that wraparound was a clear windshield like the earlier model Ferrari F1's.

Mike, again I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm not a "rivet counter" but if I can find a picture of a real car to pattern my slot car livery after I

have fun doing that.

But in this case, as had been said, this particular Dynamic body has some "artistic license" applied.

The result is still, IMHO, a beautiful slot car body.

I'll follow the lead of some very cool period slot cars like these:

I even have those Dynamic number 18 Lorenzo Bandini Ferrari decals.   :D

Hi Phil,

Yes, I have the engine detail painted on the inside of the body, velocity stacks and roll bar are fitted, the interior and driver's head are in their primary colors all ready for detail painting.

When it stops raining I'm ready to spray the body red including the windscreen.............JUST KIDDING!   :D I'm painting it like I believe Dynamic intended with a clear windscreen.

It all comes down to
" Are we having fun yet"
How can you not have fun with a Ferrari F-1? Keep in mind, it's a Italian car. They have a tendency to change by the minute. Probably to confuse the competition or,I know this for a fact, it's tough to get Italians to agree on anything. Well, with the exception of,
" let's eat".
