I decided to build a chassis for a nice Lancer Lotus 25B body.
To that end parts were collected and a chassis made using the 1966 R&C rule set.  Althought, I think the rears are a touch wider than the rules state of 1/2".  All other rules were followed to the letter.

First up the wheels which are Russkit set screw with wheel inserts.

The body and a very flat interior since the motor is pretty tall.

Power is by a very stock Russkit 23.

Finished the chassis today.

And now with all the vintage bits assembled it is time to start painting and detailing the beautiful Lancer body.

Well, today I built a nice interior which is currently drying but not finish painted.  But, was very hesitant to cut off the rear fairing unless I could manufacture (scratchbuild) the details such as a tranny and pipes just like 90% of the photos of this car do.  To that end, one was built up and a mounting soldered to the chassis.  (The body is a poor structure to attach this detail to)
So.... to that end one was constructed and the rear fairing cut, with much trepidation I have to add!

Lovely work Jairus ... that drop arm is amazing! And I totally get your trepidation about cutting the body as I encountered it myself recently with a vintage Lancer Westlake Eagle. As a side note, Jimmy Clark is my favorite driver of all time and Jackie Stewart once remarked that he is the best driver he ever competed against (which includes a lot of amazing drivers). Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Looks great Jairus.   :good:

Did you scratch build the exhaust and transaxle or are they something available to purchase?

The transmission is cut from an IMC Lotus model kit.  The pipes are something from my scrap box.  Probably an Indy car bit that I had saved for years.  Being a scale modeler I have parts and bits everywhere.  What I really need are a couple "Talbot" mirrors, which I am fresh out of.

Love the shading on the driver, he looks like he could climb right out of there. :good: Once he gets his head together.

Some time ago I did make a lathe tool so I could make the Talbot mirrors in aluminum. I will look in my box of goodies and send a pic, to see if you think they will work for you?

They would need a mount as they are just the bullet shape.

Hey Jairus, this is what I found.

My lathe parts would need a mount and a polish on the flat side, fiddly at best. But then I found the lancer parts that I think would be good to go.

Take a look at the pics and I will send you which ever pair you would like.
