As I picked up my deslotted NSR Mosler, then spied its wing three feet down the track. I reflected that this was the third time the wing had been broken off, in so many weeks not by anything I had done, but instead from being run into at high speed from behind.   I’ve lost count of how many other cars, I’ve seen which have needed their spoilers to be super-glued on over and over again.

Shelf queens don’t need body part reinforcement; race cars do.

What I came up with, is a simple solution, which should completely eliminate the possibility of wing detachment from an accident.

I chose a .026” wound D-string, drilled two tiny holes in the body just inside the spoiler supports, bent the string into a right-angle U-shape, put it through the holes, locked its orientation slightly towards the back of the car, and with multiple layers super-glued the  base to the underside of the body all along its length. Next I clamped each string end, as it came up through the body to the wing supports, and with multiple layers of super-glue glued them firmly to the supports.

A little black paint is optional... the revisions are very hard to see even in silver...

You guys have been very helpful to me... HTH one of you...

So an update, proving every one of my points. Went off slot middle of fast turn. A resin bodied metal chassis car weighing 4x as much as my NSR Aston, smashed into Aston rear end at high speed, sent the Aston over the 12 inch high retaining wall to the concrete floor 4 feet below.

First thing I checked was the wing, which had suffered a direct hit. The reinforced mounting was unaffected. It was just as strong and secure as when I set it up over a month ago. What DID break was a small corner of the upper surface/corner of the wing, glued back I was racing again in 2 minutes. The super glue (remember I'm using 3-4 layers) did NOT shear, (of course I am using a reputable product by Loctite), but I see no reason to change glues after this acid test.

I don't care what your dad says:

Engineers know that if you allow sufficient over capacity, no conceivable force in that set
of circumstances could possibly break your design.

As always YMMV... but when I buy a 3rd car ( Is the Pope Catholic?) I will set it up exactly
the same way, and sleep soundly at night.
