Great job Rod.
Didn't think they would run that well without any mods.

I have that same car (except for the body) mine has that same motor but I don't know as it's original to the car, the box says it has a "high performance ball bearing motor" and I can't see any sign of ball bearings (I have not taken it apart) I did not realize these were considered Gp12s, there is no arm tag and the box says just that it's a "super competitive, pro-formance slot car" it is an excellent handling car although when I got it I noticed the axles were out of tram (not parallel).

That was the first slotcar I ever owned. My brother bought it for me the first time he took me to the track.
I was sold by Parma as a RTR. I always thought the chassis was a Riggen.

Paul,
I think Rodney refers to these as Group 12's because there were a few $11.95 models that had Mura 2 hole can motors in them.
I don't remember if the motors were referred to as Group 12's.
My best friend who wasn't nearly as hooked on slot cars as I was, had one of these.
I'm pretty sure his was the $9.95 version with the Mabuchi motor and I was kind of jealous how well it ran.
Those Mabuchi motors did have some sort of frictionless bearing.
Edit;
Here's some further info on those cars.
Slot racing was pretty much dead in my area so I don't remember the Dynamic cars with this style body, and certainly not with the aluminum chassis and rectangular hole motor.

They were 26D models with "ball bearings" (very cheap pressed together I think) like this: Professor Motor PMTR1527 Vintage Chrome Can FT-26D Mabuchi Motor NOS

The Porsche "Aero-Dynamic" body was a popular East Coast open class wing car body in the early '70s once Lancer stopped making their Porsche coupe & before MAC began pulling it again, These Aero-Dynamic bodies were eventually replaced by the Lucas Matra until the O/S Ferrari came on the scene.

I believe one of the last models of the Mabuchi 16D had a ball bearing similar to that on the 26D.
Just checked the 1970 Auto World catalog and it lists both versions of this car, as Mike said: the Group 12 version with a Mura motor and the standard version with a 16D, but no more details on the motor.

Group 12 rules first allowed motors like the Mabuchi oval can hole and ball bearing 16D and also 26D motors. They had a high failure rate in racing. This is documented in the old magazines. Later, Mura and Champion came out with their Group12 motors and the price cap went up to around $12.95 for a Group 12 car from a previous cap of $9.95.

Mike and Don are correct. Here is an Auto World 1971. The same Auto World showed the cars with Mura Group 12 motors for $11.95.

Here's a picture of the 1968 Mabuchi motor's cheapo ball bearing in the can. It has no inner race, just the balls running directly on the armature shaft and wearing a nice groove in it:
This is it out of the can and the Champion bearing I usually replace it with:

I called those & the 26D ones "Budweiser Bearings" because they looked like something made from a used beer can.
