It's the 5th Sunday in April 2023, time for another D3 Hardbody race day at Buena Park Raceway.
Today's race/photo report includes photos taken by Victor Dubrowsky. Some of our regular racers were missing today, but the usual fun racing was joined by two new hardbody racers, Nathan Williams and Bob Brown. Both Nathan and Bob recently participated in our annual hardbody enduro (Trucks).

The first race of the day was for GTPs (and mid-engine class). Rick Jocham was 1st, followed by Walter Baynes and Bob Ahulii. The "Racer Handicap" podium had Jimmy LaBarba 1st, Walter Baynes 2nd and Bob Brown 3rd.
The Mixed race had Rick Jocham 1st, Nathan Williams 2nd and Ken Dylke 3rd. The Mixed race "Racer Handicap" podium had Jimmy LaBarba 1st, Rick Jocham 2nd and Nathan Williams 3rd.
Nice racing by Rick and Jimmy as they both won two podiums!

Thanks to Robert Range for supporting D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race director (and race photographer) Victor Dubrowsky.

The next D3 Hardbody races on Sunday, May 21, 2023. BPR opens at 10 am, GTP race at noon followed by a quick lunch, then the Mixed race.

Hello Keith,

I enjoy your race reports.

One "nit" to pick.  A Porsche 917 is not a GTP.  I would think it has some advantage since it is both smaller and not carrying a rear wing hung high and out back.  I do see your cavaet however (mid-engine), and presumably it is allowed to race for the sake of inclusivity.  I'll shut up now.

Best regards,

Spud, your correct, our D3 hardbody GTP race also includes our "mid-engine" class (which has the same "Lap Differential") which includes the Porsche 917 and other high performance race cars.
