This may take a couple of attempts for me to get the very hub of my gist across, so please bear with me.

Some rule sets for closed cockpit slotcars specify that "2-D" interiors are not allowed.

My friend who is a retired physics professor and slot car racer tells me that "2-D" objects do not exist in real space (or some mumbo jumbo such as that). Even a piece of paper has depth, no matter how small, so physical 2-D objects do not truly exist.

So assuming that the above is true, how do you specify, in as few words as possible, in rules that flat printed paper or cardboard interiors are not legal?

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Your physics professor is being too picky.

Just say this

Drivers/Interiors must be 3 dimension, cannot be a decal or flat paper product.

They're outlawing the printed paper drivers!! Some were claiming 3D by folding them and letting the drivers helmet pic stand up – but not acceptable is what they are saying.

John Ford published both scale and wing car fold-up paper drivers in his SARN magazine that were easily copied on a reproduction machine.

I cut out the head and steering wheel on my interior and pop them up. Molded interiors are so hard to find, since Parma went away. Mid-America is reproducing them, but they're not the same quality.

Why not just call them "flat surface" interiors.

Just call them flat but if there is a fold in them then they are not flat.

3d they can hold water in them.

MidAmerica is NOT REproducing them. They are PRODUCING them at Parma on Parma molds by their staff.

"Interior must be Parma part #XXXXXX or equivalent. NO paper/flat interiors allowed."

You're welcome.

That's going to be hard to come by.

We have vacuum interiors for 1/24. Painted use a 3d printed driver for our convenience. Unpainted come in clear polycarbonate or black styrene and are 100% vacuum formed with no shortage of supply.

But to answer MG's original question, "Interior tray must be vacuum formed"

That's a good thing - the Parma interiors were well made. mid-america is reproducing them, but the quality is not quite there yet. still, it's better than nothing. btw - the caveman interiors look good, but they don't make a right hand model. (hint hint)

Actually we do. For some reason they aren't on the website. I will need to correct that, thanks for mentioning. The one on the right has a 3d printed head
