Coupes on the Aristocrat – 5/30/23
For the second time this month Retro Coupes took on the American Aristocrat in the MVH Tuesday Night Retro Series. Once again, a field of seven racers hit the track with four drivers on and three marshals to man the corners.

And once again, to no one’s surprise, John Weaver jumped out to an early lead. By the switch to the inside lanes, John had an even 150 laps on the counter and a three-lap lead over Dave Panich while Bob “Woody” Hazelwood was running in third with 142 laps. Rob Hayes was leading the rest of the field with 135 laps, Richard Payne and Ray Lee were two laps behind and tied for fifth place with 133 laps as Paul Ryer closed out the field with 132 laps.
In the second half of the race, Weaver increased his lead over Dave to take the win by an even 10 laps. Dave finished in second place, twelve laps up on Woody. Meanwhile, the race for fourth place was tight, with Rob holding off Richard by just 19 track sections. Ray and Paul closed out the field, in that order, separated by less than a lap.
The fastest lap of the night went to an John with a 4.171 in purple as he set the fastest lap on all eight lanes.
