Just got this as well...  :)

 Indy Tjet.jpg

After the usual cleaning, etc, it runs fine (yes, I know the windscreen is missing) but...

..as you can see, I'm using the smaller wheels up front: if I use the larger "truck" or "slick" type wheels/tires, it raises the front end up so high the pick-up shoes don't make good contact to the track.

Now, I know this is "supposed" to have the (4) large wheels all 'round, but in this case, the only way I can run it is to lower the front end by using the smaller wheels/tires...

Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Glad to see you are running those T-Jets.

They have a smell all their own that brings back wonderful memories.

On the Indy car, the chassis has 3 front axle holes.

Try the axle in the middle position which will move the wheels farther away from the track for better pick up contact.

Make sure the springs are correct and still have good tension.

Lastly, check that the pick ups are completely touching the track, sometimes they have to be bent to make full contact ( flat against the rails)

I thought I had already tried that, but I guess not...

...and there it is...  :good:

Thank you!

PS: you're certainly right about the "smell"; very much like Lionel O Gauge or American Flyer S Gauge. Gee, those are all 3 pole motors; could there be a connection?   :)

The smell of the ozone, I love it, one of the local raceways here back in the day was in the cellar, when I would get half way down I'd get a wiff of that smell, I loved it then and now
