I purchased this cool vintage dragster project from a seller in Missouri.  Very nice workmanship on the chassis. The dragster uses Ram 850 motor parts.  The alloy side rails are highly polished and are very stiff when flexed.  The scratches and nicks in the side rails are dark grey.

The dragster was completed with the following additions.  Rear set screw wheels replaced the out-of-round threaded wheels.  The new tires are trued Germans.  Ball bearing dragster front wheels replaced the threaded road race wheels.  A new drop arm, Russkit guide, lead wires, and motor brush spring assembly replaced the damaged parts.  I constructed the body out of aluminum, and the rear body panel behind the driver was made of tin.  A JDS nostalgia interior was added.

New drop arm assembly.  Styrene drop arm up stop.  Four brass tabs hold the body on.

Unknown brand of rear set screw wheels with German tires added.  Weldun gears.  Cool gear guard.

Aluminum axle holder slides for gear mesh adjustments.  Trued commutator and epoxied armature.

Great save on a real piece of slot car history Rodney.  :good:    There's a ton of fabrication hours in that car.

So many cool details but I love the guard around the spur gear!

Hi Rodney,

To me, it looks to have a  "steampunk" theme to it - very awesome indeed!

Have you had a chance to run it yet and if so, how does it run  please?

Thanks for sharing Rodney.

Man, that is sweet!

Nice save.

Time to get out the metal polish and spend 8 or 10 hours polishing it  :sun_bespectacled:

You mentioned the rear wheels.

Hard to tell from the pic but they appear they may be Speedways.

These are from the parts I got from J&J Raceway out in your neck of the woods.

Joe, the wheels do appear to be Speedways.  Rick, the car is precisely built.  Larry, Rick and I talked about the gear guard.  It is cool.  I am going to try to make a couple of duplicates of the gear guard. for other cars.  Ernie, I will test it soon.
