I've run across this type of motor before in toys from the '60s, and even in slot parts boxes now and then. They are marked KTK  or sometimes TKK Japan. One day I ran across packaging for them, so I thought I'd show that here. I wouldn't doubt other brands took these Japanese motors and rebranded them as well. Zimmerman Products was out of St Louis, MO.

I've never seen this type of motor before - very unique.

Thanks for sharing Ed.

TKK was used early on Mabuchi motors, I had some of those in electric toy cars and boats.
