Still going through some cars I picked up some years ago that I can't quite identify. The first one with the aluminum sidewinder setup looks familiar but I can't quite place the brand. It's fitted with a vac AC Cobra body.

The second one is a lightweight black plastic material chassis. It has some scratch marks that make me wonder if it's been handmade. Not sure if I ever posted this one on this forum before, can't recall.  While I don't have much hope for anyone identifying this chassis, maybe you can identify the Indy or F1 body style.  It's been brush painted by hand, not a factory finish.

Thanks for any help.

The first one is a GarVic chassis.

The second one is odd! Looks like a plastic version of the Riggen-JAD Alligator chassis (also an iso-fulcrum, but that one pivots on the rear axle). Looks too nice to be homemade, but have never seen that one before. Body is a well-known Indy car, but can't remember the name for now.

Here are two more parts for aluminum chassis that I can't identify.  The two columns of holes with six holes per column look neat enough to make me think they are factory made.  The other chassis wire frame I've also not seen before.  One rear axle bushing holder is missing.  Any ideas as to brands?

Thanks Don for the Garvic i.d. Knew I'd seen it somewhere.  On the black plastic chassied car, the seller had another style chassis of similar material, but I was already cashed out from many purchases so couldn't get that one.  I want to say the chassis on that one was somewhat wider.

You're welcome Ed.

The other parts are all Champion of Chamblee. The wire frame is an adapter to turn a frame with motor carrier, tongue and guide holder into an iso-fulcrum chassis.

Ah that's good to hear Don, thanks again. It makes sense since there are a few other parts with Champion labels in the old swirl finish green parts box it all came in, as well as comments like "keep your cotton pickin meat hooks off".  There could be a fun thread showing the things kids wrote on their pit boxes back in the day, if that thread doesn't already exist.  The brass rail frame may or may not be Champion but I'll leave it in the box since that's where I found it.  Looks like much of the stuff in the box was purchased in 1969, from the receipts enclosed.  The white tires that appear to be silicone coated sponges look interesting.

Ed I believe your Indy body is a Brabham Ford made by Lancer #218.

The brass rail chassis is an Associated.

Ed. that Champion wire piece in post #3 can also be used with some of the Dynamic cast chassis pieces too.  I have one I used that way. The brass rod chassis in post #6 is an International frame rather than a Champion. International also used that basic chassis & added 2 or 3 different pans & drop arms to make the wider sports car chassis.

Thanks Bill - I can never remember if those chassis are Associated or International!

Thanks Martin on the body i.d., now I can label it as such.  Thanks again Don, good to hear if that's an Associated frame, since I may not have anything else made by them.  Bill that's interesting to hear how that wire frame could be used with Dynamic aluminum chassis parts.  Oh and if the brass rod frame is International brand not Associated, that's cool too as I have little or nothing from them that I know of.  At one time I had the International yellow Piranha car Thingie mint in the bubble box, but I traded that away many years ago.

Ed, are you familiar with the old scratchbuilt.com website? It's content is about 20 yrs. old. but is a wealth of information on old slot cars, both scratchbuilt & production. You won't find everything there but it's worth taking a look at the photos.

Billnh,
Interesting use of the Champion wire adapter on a Dynamic chassis. Don't suppose you could post a picture?

Thanks Bill I will check out that scratchbuilt site.  I either have never seen it, or possibly saw it so many years ago I forgot about coming back to it.

The car is not still together & the parts are scattered who knows where. You know I'm/was a racer, not a collector.   :to_become_senile: It wouldn't be too hard to bend those wire ISO parts using .063" piano wire & some K&S brass. I first had that Champion part in 1968, the rest of the parts might be in ME or NH.

Its just a matter of what Lancer called it.

It had a Ford V8 in it  and was Campaigned by owner Al Dean and prepared by Clint Brawner and Jim McGee. Based on a 1964 Brabham Chassis. Engine built by Joe Boghosian. Ex-Mario Andretti, driven to nine wins in Indy car competition, including his first, and Indy championships in 1965-66. Andretti finished third and won Rookie-of-the-Year in this car at the 1965 Indy 500.

So based on this Lancer called the body a Brabham Ford as the chassis and motor were the dominant features to them.
