I finished restoring/rebuilding a 1966 Ferrari F1 that is a team car to McLaren car number 2.  The 1966 Ferrari F1 is a Lancer body that was painted in the same white and green livery as the McLaren back in the day.

The Ferrari is great fun to drive.  It handles well and is fast.

The body was cleaned and repaired.  The exhaust pipes are from a well-used Dubro Ferrari F1 body.

A modified Champion chassis is used.  The Champion chassis has a "u-shaped" piano wire added to strengthen the chassis.
Lead weight was added to the drop arm.  The guide is Cox and the crown gear is Weldun.

Wheels are Cox.  The front wheels were drilled through to allow for axle reducers to be installed.  Paul's urethane rear tires are used.
The motor is a U-GO 16D rewind.

Simple body mounts and piano wire added to the Champion chassis.

Same type of body from the Ben Jones collection.

Hi Rodney,

Your restorations are amazing!

The chassis looks so simple and I'm sure it handles very well, just by looking at the stance of the car.

If I may inquire, what is the type of tire (part #) you're using of Paul's urethane tires please?

Thanks for sharing Rodney.

the use of the exhaust pipes, cut from another body and underlapping your body, is a very cool effect.

This car would be very competitive in a F1 race. Nice build Rodney! Tom Andersen was pulling this F1 body when he repopped bodies. It was next on my list when he quit.

Thanks everyone.  The tires are listed on ebay as 1/24 URETHANE SLOT CAR TIRES 2pr PGT-22160 fits all Parma & J&K 0.4" Pencil Hubs.

In the item description, they are described as XPG tires.  The package the tires came in list them as XPG-22160.395.  They look like XPG tires.

Ron was the first to tell me that Paul's tires could be stretched over much larger wheels and work fine.  The tires are glued on and trued.
